Teaching Kids To Use Guns.

Let's face it, many people are offended that we teach kids to be responsible with guns and would love it if all firearms were outlawed in the US. But like the old saying goes, "the day they outlaw guns, only outlaws will own them" is completely true.

 

Yesterday in Phoenix a 14 year old boy was babysitting his three younger siblings when a woman rang the doorbell. The 14 year old refused to open the door because he did not know her. A few minutes later they heard a banging on the front door and the boy saw an armed man trying to kick the door in. The boy rushed the three younger kids upstairs, went to his parents room and got out his dads pistol. As the intruder burst through the front door, he saw the boy and pointed his gun at him. The kid got off a few rounds and hit the intruder, who is now in critical condition in the hospital but expected to survive.

 

Obviously these people knew the kids were home alone and we'll probably never know what their true intentions were unless they find the woman and she admits their plans. Had the boy not reacted the way he did we would be reading about a few dead or kidnapped kids instead of a wounded intruder. This kid is a hero.

I agree. Grandpa & dad taught me how to shoot. Everybody I knew had guns & knew how to use them. Never gave it much thought until the Politically Correct arses came on the scene.

Chicago has finally admitted to being the murder capital of the United States. Rahm admits to at least 5000 murders since 2002, and Chicago bans gun ownership. Hmmm, do you think gangs & drugs might be the problem, rather than guns alone?

I grew up in Illinois, and learned to shoot there. The first time I shot a gun was a .22 cal that my Great Grandfather made, and shot it when I was around 6 or 7. I still have it and shoot it every once in a while. And got my Hunters Safety card when I was 12. It is good to pass down to the younger generations the responsibility that we need to have when handling a firearm weather for sport or for protection.

all 4 of my kids were raised with and learned how to defend themselves and there loved ones via the use of firearms .... I hope they never have to use this training however it gives me peace of mind that they have the ability to defend themselves and there family if need be.

 

Glad things came out ok for this family , what a horrible experience for a young person to have to go through ....

It is a great story. This ''kid'' did what he thought he may never have to do, but had the training to do it. There is nothing wrong with teaching your kids the proper way to handle a firearm. I was trained as a young "kid'' myself how to respect and use a firearm. We have what we call the second admendment for a reason. We cannont surrender that. Glad that it worked out well for this YOUNG MAN.

It is hardly a "necessity" in the U.S. Certainly there are some headaches that come with the great liberties American citizens enjoy, but the fact is that the vast majority of Americans go through life never having a "need" for a firearm. And I will gladly accept the risks associated with my liberty, it's worth it.

now i guess in some countries police officers dont even carry a gun but instead a billy-club and mace.. like in Britain which blows my mind...So is it tougher to own a gun there and most criminals they come up against don't have guns???

At least since the London riots the Bobbies there realized that in some situation you gotta be armed,lol.

In switzerland there are offical shooting organisation who teach the children not only to shoot but also the responsible handling of weapons. Persons are deadly. A gun don't shoot alone.

In my opinion this boy has a big heart and did exactly the right thing as the man who shot the asshole who violented his daughter.

In the meanwhile we got that much of this so called refuges of the arabic winter in whole Europe that the criminal rate is incredibly increasing. Many of them are young and strong. And what do the most of them do here? Robberies, Violance and raping our women. That's a fact. And the police alone can't shoot them all. So why don't help them in such cases?

In Texas and Arizona there are plates to put over the housedoor:" We don't call 911" (cause you never know when they arrive,lol)

means this house is armed and we shoot back! I love this, it's funny and if the family of that couragous boy would have had such a shield above there door I don't know if this housebreaker would have even dared to approach to this house.

Ok I don't usually reply to political forums, but I feel compelled to reply to this. No matter which side of this issue you are on, Angus and I feel that it is our responsibility as parents to protect our child. We own guns and Bronco2 knows how to properly handle them. He knows they are not toys, he knows not to point them at anyone, he knows that you should never touch one unless an adult is there to supervise, etc... Even if we did not own guns I would still want him to know the proper way to handle one because you never know when and where that child could be exposed to one, you never know what is in other people's houses.

The knowledge to know how to use the weapons is a very valuable tool in more than just protection. There are all kinds of reasons you may need this know how, tho most Americans will never need this knowledge . I would say its better to have the know how and not have to use it than to not know how and need to use it! Most of use may never have the situation arise for it but preparation is a big part of survival! Just saying!
