Window 7 Updates

i have been getting the blue screen alot lately. i have come to the conclusion that it's one or more of the windows 7 updates. is there a way to uninstall all at one time cause my pc keeps crashing to much or is it unable to be done. it will take a while at one at a time. i will get 1 or 2 uninstalled and then it crashes. would uninstalling windows and then reinstalling it help the problem and do i need a disk for it cause the pc did not come with any disks at all?

before you do that Widowmaker does it give you any messages when it crashes?

new computers don't come with install discs anymore. You have to make your own when it's brand new. Windows has a built in feature to create the disc for you.

if you make the disc now, it would just reinstall with the same problem you're fighting now.

 

and, is there a blue screen error, or other error window to tell anything.

Go to control panel, then find the windows update tab, click view update history, underneath where it says "review your update history" you will get a link to remove an update, just click on the blue wording that says "installed updates,troubleshoot problems with installed updates" then right click on any update to uninstall it, hope this helps....Aah soz m8 just realised you asked if you can install all at once, i don't actually think you can do that, if your blue screen just started just remove the last updates, or if you have installed a new program or new hardware try uninstalling and see if you still get the problem, Dean is correct also, it should give you a message when it crashes, it will be a clue to what the problem is, but you gotta be quick.

widowmaker are you trying to install W7 SP1 also what version 32/64 bit

 

in the pass i've had a bad sata cable on HDD giving same issue took me 2 months to find that

to see the error in the BSOD turn off the automatically restart, then you can read the error and track down what might be causing it...

 

press the windows key and R (which will bring up the run box) and typing control sysdm.cpl

Click the Advanced Tab

Click the Settings Button under Startup and Recovery

Uncheck the Automatically Restart Box

Click OK twice and wait for the BSOD to appear.

(you will need to use powerbutton to restart computer after BSOD)

there is a blue screen error but it don,t stay up long enough to read what it says, and another error says that windows has crashed.

could it possibly be my power supply causing the problem i'm having. about two months ago the fans started running way loud on anything i go to do. games, internet games. i have had to break out the old dinosaur from the closet and it works better.

anything is possible. especially if it is underpowered for your hardware.

go to:

control panel/system on the left side, select "advanced system setting" in that window select the "advanced" tab. then the "startup and recovery" settings. uncheck the box that says auto resart.

that will let the blue screen stay up till you reboot it. let us know what it says in the first couple lines of it next time it happens.

 

I got my hunches on it, but we'll wait to see what the BSOD says.

Also, when does the BSOD happen? Does it happen when you do specific things or does it seem random? Depending on when it crashes there may be an entry in the Event Viewer.

3. expand windows logs

4. Click on system and look for items with a level of 'Error' or 'Critical' and you might be able to get the hex code from there.

my system restore only go's back to the day before for some reason. even saved one for a test and it got deleted also.

the blue screen finally came up and i got it to stay. here is the info on it.

I would look at updating the drivers for your hardware. Maybe run a memory test and a hard drive test as well.

how do i go about that. i don't know how to do that.

used device manager to check for updates for drivers and there all up to date.

Widow maker after googling this I was directed to Microsoft support and entered in the search Blue screen message list and this is what I found:

Method 1: Check to see if the issue occurs in safe mode. To do so, follow these steps.

 

a. Restart your computer and start pressing the F8 key on your keyboard. On a computer that is configured for booting to multiple operating systems, you can press the F8 key when the Boot Menu appears.

b. Use the arrow keys to choose Safe mode in the Windows Advanced Boot Menu Options and then press Enter.

I would try to get drivers from the manufacturer of the hardware. Using the device manager and getting the drivers from Microsoft and may or may not be the most updated. So, If you have an nvidia graphics card go to the nvidia site and download the latest driver from them. Also, if you could get me a copy of your memory dump, I could take a look to see what may be directly causing the issue. Here is a link to a tool that will pull all of your log files and the memory dump http://www.sevenforu...structions.html just run the WSF diagnostic tool and upload the reulting files to the forum here.

 

After posting that info try doing the following:

i'm back up and running for now. the last thing i done was the hard drive test and fix problems. there was some problems that it had to fix but it's running good for now. thx for the help folks.
