As long as the cop is there when needed to protect and serve, he could have parked his bike next to the slurpee machine inside the store.

People trying to become "Youtube famous" by confronting cops and other people while recording what happens are morons.  Yeah, some cops take little perks for protecting the rest of us. I don't have a problem with that.

Pops we learn by example I disagree...That youngster was making a point do u know kids cant even ride on side walks let alone park

there bikes in front of a store....He did not even want to converse with the boy that in itself to me is wrong...Do you know in some locations

you can not even park your motorcycle close to your house...I do understand ur point on youtube....Now a days police do not interact with

the youth in a positive way at all on the streets and I see them needing to..

Well, we will just have to agree to disagree on this one.

First of all, the cop wasn't on a public sidewalk he was on the private property of the store where he bought the drink, probably a 7-11. If the store owner has a problem with where the cop parks "he or she" would have been within their rights to question the cops parking habits, but then they probably wouldn't have gotten a great response time the next time they were robbed and the store owner expected that same cop to show up and save them from the bad guys.

Second, the kid is obviously an aspiring cop watcher and the cop knew it. I've seen it happen in my own town when people act agressive toward cops to get a reaction out of them while they record the whole thing. Of course they're hoping the cops will do something illegal and capture it on video. If the kid walked up and asked questions about how cool his motorcycle is, I'm sure the cop would have been sweet as pie, but a kid walking up recording a conversation with his cell phone asking why he parked there?  Gimme a break. The cop kept his cool and could have told the kid to go fuck himself, or grabbed the phone and "accidently" ran over it with his motorcycle.

Most cops are respectful when people they deal with are respectful toward them. Most kids today think respect was something people did back in the horse and buggy days.  I've been pulled over 3 times in the last 10 years for moving violations, and not ticketed once. Every time I was polite, respected the badge, and didn't give them any shit for doing their job.

Cops (by law) don't have to give their badge numbers when asked. Many police departments may tell their officers to give it when asked, but there is no law stating they have to say it out loud when asked. The badge is in plain sight and if somebody wants it bad enough all they have to do is look.

stood on both sides...Both friend and foe ...It is a job I would not want ....

Seems like its another staged event. The kid doesnt even know why he's asking the question. Also, how many kids do you know would ever ask for a police officers badge number? Sounds like he was put up to this.

Footnote: I can see your point Loader that the officer does have to lead by example, gut in reality, do we care if a motorcycle cop parks his bike on a sidewalk? Im just greatful he didnt choose a handicap spot.

Do cops care that your daughter stopped with there daughter in a stroller to pick up her bottle ...NO instead she was threaten with arrest if she did not move on...Down Town

Me and my Brother one day pulled over and parked to stop and chat mid day standing on the sidewalk and was ordered to move.....

By the way this was down town where I even owned a store....

My children were ordered to get out of there own yard and off the street they lived on as to which me and Mr cop had some very bad words

with camera rolling and my cell in hand with a direct cell numbers to the Chief of Police and the Mayor...

There is so much more from many places not just the same town/city....Stuff you guys only see on tv I have lived it

Now do see any respect problems here.....Thats when I went pro active and had there asses put on bicycles so they could regain what they were

throwing away ....RESPECT

I  do  for that (puts on flame suit) Harley is leaking oil all over the dam side walk making a really hazard for walking people.

I  agree lead by example  just poor relation skills for the cop is tarnishing the department

and kid thinking  all cops are  like him

just show respect , the cop was mom for he knows is in the wrong for his actions

For those of you with an axe to grind with law enforcement, I understand your feelings and realize that a few bad experiences can give you a jaded outlook toward cops. Just as with any profession there are bad apples, and unfortunately they make the good ones look bad too. I've personally seen asshole cops, firemen and military members do some pretty fucked up things just because they can. But I don't let that change my opinion of the rest of them who would (and regularly do) put themselves in harms way to help the rest of us.

The cop that parked on the sidewalk should have used better judgement. He knew he was wrong and didn't feel like dealing with a kid who was recording every word he said. That chubby cop and his slurpee (just like all other cops) are trained to deal with nut cases like this and often do, and for that I choose to not make a big deal about his parking habits.

something I missing in video  for sounds if citizen helped the officers gunning down driver who was on a suicide misson

I wonder why the audio was removed before chase and come on after car stopped

or was it a hit on driver who was the officer's wife side action and didn't want driver around wife anymore

you see the movie but the script of real story is hidden by blocked audio

why the driver was armed ?  scared of jealous armed husband ?

moral of this story is  S&W is the jury, prosecutor, and under taker ....the gun has spoken

Laurie Bembenek story always 2 sides of the coin

WELL PUT POPS.....Out of 10 friends I may have 8 are either a police officer a judge or in local Government .....Never would I condemn there work only the ones that blemish what they do....They put there lives on the line everyday and out of concern they need to show more respect in order for the youth to some how come to respect them and what they do.....In todays world (inner city) police are seen as thugs them selves who would rather bully someone then come to there aid should it be needed.....That is not right !! I support everyone who puts on a uniform regardless of there field...That video that was posted is the norm

and its the result of years of policing wrong and our weak legal system ....Police know they lock them up and a judge lets them back out in 24 that instills anger amongst the ranks....That is why I would not want to be in law enforcement but at the same time I want to let them know what needs to be corrected....

Pops just last year I had a local police officer at 11pm knock on my door and run and hide around the side of the house....Never did he announce he was a police officer and when I confronted him while in hiding I asked him if he was nuts as to which he stated WE had a problem I had asked for there service in regards to a local gang early in the evening and guess what I got handcuffed taken to jail on a 29 year old warrant for who the hell knows what even now I am still on bond and still they know nothing....Oh and the local gang thing there response was we will do nothing at this time we are waiting for bigger things 1st...Ha in the mean time this city has had multi officers killed in the line of duty.....It comes down to RESPECT

Sounds like you've had your share of bad apples Loader.

You would think they would have forgiven a nearly 30 year old warrant for showing your butt plug in public. :w00t:

Well the warrant I can understand he had a job to do....But knocking and hiding wtf I should have come out shooting...In conversing with him on the way he stated that he was going to retire soon so if that is how he was trained or perhaps practiced during his career I dont know how he made it that far...He was a very nice police officer however and said he had no choice but to take me in even knowing there were charges even pending and or filed not even a doc number zippo notta just a warrant....

I am still waiting for said charges to surface as are they I guess almost 1 year later and still on bond....Mind you I have NO

criminal record and 1 speeding ticket...

You know I guess the complete pisser for me was how he the officer handled the complete thing....

The officer may have very well parked there for easy access should a call come in...

The kid could have been inspired to become anything and that may have been motive..

What he learned there was authority figures do not have to answer and are above the people they serve

In the end you give what you want to receive

With that I here by surrender this thread to our beloved Pete

Both Loader's and little_old_man's points are both valid, and in my opinion, are not differential argumentative points to hash out. Rather both points are character traits we have come to expect in our law enforcement personnel and in our citizens.
