Once for sure - the night my grandma died (before I knew she passed) she visited but I'm pretty sure I was awake so I don't know if that counts.
And my mom has visited a few times this past year but I can't really explain it.

Interesting question to ask Damage.   Did somthing happen to you?

I am not sure if what I experienced was really this but it was very real like and I woke up like I had actually been there. It was after my father passed away and I was dealing with not being able to tell him bye. It was so real that I was at his bedside and told him bye. I to this day have never had another issue with that with him but what a very real experience it was!

I've had at least three dreams featuring departed loved ones but nothing has led me to believe anything more than

they were simple dreams.

when we had my mothinlaw stay in our home here her last months it was difficult. My wife is an only child that her mom raised as a single mother.they were close.During all that occured .I had what I think is more then a dream. My dad passed away a long time ago and its hard for me to see him in my dreams- I just remember feelings  and snippets of memories associated with him.Ive never had a clear dream about him in all the years...But one night during what I thought was a dream all of a sudden it was like I felt his presence then I looked up and saw his image and it was glowing and so radiant -more then i could even imagine in its vibrance and clarity.like this warm gold liight  was emmitting from his being-when I saw him I broke down and said Dad I love you and miss you.So in his normal calm manner he told me he was fine and not to worry about him.He said that my wife heather was going to need me soon to be there for her and I should be there for her..Heathers mom passed recently and her moms syblings were just cruel and selfish to my wife in the end.Its was so ugly what occured..

this visit has stayed with me and I think about it everyday. My mom who is still alive -we visit every month on sundays.I had to share this with her that I saw dad so I did.I cryed like a child explaining what occured and she said calmly that my dad loved my wife very much and he just wanted me to stand by her during this difficult time and be there for her-Then my mom shared that  she had  a   similar visit from her mom along time ago and my sister also experienced a visit from my dad as well..

I havent shared this experiience with my wife yet since she is in shock still over her mom but I know sharing this with my mom has created some unique bond and we are closer now then we have ever been in all the years .

thanks

yeah but I don't think you want to hear about mine lol, my brothers & sisters and when my mother was living we all that happen to us.

It was my dad and my story stops there, since you had a good experience then that's great keep it close and embrace it.

I will say this, my experience was different than the rest of my family. My dad passed away 41 years ago and I remember everything like it was yesterday.

No I don't dwell on things but some things you can never forget no matter how hard you try lol...

Many cultures believe such things. Check Hawaiian beliefs on Aumakua.

As for me, I have experienced it twice in my life. I won't bore you with the details of the first, but the second time was on July 18th, 2012 around 2:30AM. My wife and I were sleeping when I heard my Mom's voice say "Gary, Honey, wake up." Thinking it was a pleasant dream, and in no way was her voice scary, I went back to sleep until I heard the voice again. I lifted my head, turned it towards our bathroom door, and there she was. She was not the mother I had just seen in the hospital a few weeks earlier, she was my Mom, standing straight and smiling. She gave me that tender look she always had and said, "Gary, it's okay, don't be afraid". Still clearing my eyes, and thinking I'd eaten too much pizza the night before, I closed them and opened them again and she was still there. "I love you." She said and was gone. Let me say that I am a firm believer in God, and Jesus Christ. I believe God, to comfort us both, allowed us to see each other again.  The phone call at 6:00 AM was no surprise, nor was I surprised when I was told she'd died that night. What did surprise me was her time of death, 2:34 AM.

Be clear, we are not to seek out the dead:

· Leviticus 20:6, 27: Leviticus points out that God turns his back upon any person who , “prostitutes himself” (cf v 5) by pursuing communication with , “ghosts”, and , “departed spirits” (Lv 19:31).

Just remember the bible also says: "With God, All Things Are Possible." MATT 19:26 and MARK 10:27. While clearly, we do not worship the dead, (however according to records my Mom was not dead when she visited me), I do think that God surpasses our understanding and His Word says: “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." IS 55:8-9.

This type of thing first happened to me when my grandfather passed away. He came to me while I was sleeping at around 1:00 A.M. to tell me that he was sorry that he let my father get under his skin. At this point I had woken up, the experience continued with this comforting hug from him and some words of praise. I would say around 20 minutes after this experience the phone rang at the house. Soon afterwards my mother came into my room. Before she said anything, with my deepest sorrow I told her that grampy died. She gently told me, with tears, that he had died from a heart attack. I told her what he had said to me! My mother was not surprised by this what so ever. If is wasn't my grandfather, I would had freaked out, I was 13 years-old at the time.

I still can't talk about what happened before, during and after the experiences surrounding my first wife Valerie. Amazing stuff!

I dont have visitations from departed loved ones. Since I was a baby I have had visits from people whom I do not know. At a young age I just thought they were nightmares but as I got older I began to keep a journal that I would right details down ( I always woke up after the visit) I would then look this person up. I think the "oldest person" I was visited by had been killed in the early 1900's. Sometimes they just want to talk, sometimes they just stand there in my dreams and look at me. Other times I see there last moments. Now I dont expect people to believe me of course I have dealt with people who have called me nuts or call me a liar. I'm not telling you this for any other reason than to say, being visited by a loved one, a friend or even in my case just someone. Is not abnormal. It is actually quite normal, some dont remember, some chose to not remember, and others who see it are skeptic. I have been lucky enough that I have yet to have a relative pass but I have no doubt in my mind that I will see them shortly after they do.

I had a dream once that my grandfather was in it who had recently passed. I remember I was trying so hard to keep him away from my brothers baby daughter. Regardless I sat in his old lazy boy, and all of a sudden he was behind me leaning on the lazy boy. Something he would do if you sat on it. I remember being so scared to move, since I knew he was dead and everyone(family) where happy he was back. He simply put a hand on my shoulder and said, We are all good, behave. The next morning I found out my grandmother had passed.. No BS with this story I remember telling my mother my dream and she said that my grandpa had come back to say goodbye basically. This was years before I joined the military, got married and all that stuff. But I can remember it clearly.

What one believes is influenced by their upbringing and traditions.

In the western world, the concept of ghosts roaming around is less common than in the Far East

where, for example, a festival for the "Hungry Ghosts" takes place annually.

In Judeo-Christian societies, one hopes that our loved ones' souls ascend to a better place, and,

personally, I view that as being preferable to being trapped anywhere near us mortal beings.

I have seen what would be described as a "ghost" but don't believe there was anything "spiritual"

about it.  Ghostly Roman soldiers march through cellars in Chester from time to time.  I suspect

that fractures occur in space-time that reveal such visions of past and future.  If you read the Book of

Revelation (16:13) you may see an ancient's interpretation of three soldiers in NBC kit getting out

of an APC...

The mind plays tricks on us and some dreams can seem and feel incredibly real.
