Which is more authentic? Never fired a real one so I have no idea. One sound is from BO the other Ghost. http://www.mediafire.com/listen/drl9y898a8x5ajr/weap_snipersilenced1.wav http://www.mediafire.com/listen/tzgyclmhqntdv2q/weap_snipersilenced2.wav When doing updates and swapping out models and such one of the most important things to do is make sure the modff file doesnt get any bigger. Smaller is better but no bigger is a minimum. Weapon sounds (fire/reload/etc) is the single greatest item in the file especially the higher quality stuff. Lots can be streamed from IWD... like dialogs and explosions... but player weapons cannot. So any time a common sound can be used for multiple weapons it helps. A basic sound can have its volume and pitch adjusted. A heavier sniper rifle could be louder and have a lower pitch to suggest a bigger weapon. Things like that. Awards

The .22 sound was reduced to the same sound as an air rifle (impressive). . .quiet but not silent The .308 was a different story, normally the .308 will have a loud ear crushing sound but with the silencer that was attached to this .308 the sound was reduced to what I considered a cap gun. Not silent at all but I wouldn't have known it was a silenced .308 if I hadn't seen it being shot. With that said neither sound byte was accurate but byte number 1 was the closest to being somewhat real and number 2 didn't even sound like it had a suppressor installed on the gun. One day some friends and I decided to make a silencer for it. A bolt action works much better than a semi-auto because all of the gas (and noise) is expelled through the barrel. We ended up taping a 1/2 gallon plastic bottle to the end of the barrel. I cut out the bottom and in the center I rolled up some chicken wire for the bullet to pass through, and then stuffed cotton batting around the wire. A 22 LR still made some noise (about like a bb gun). A 22 L still made some noise, and the 22 short fired and the only sound we could hear was the click from the firing pin hitting the rim. Granted, a 22 short won't kill much, but it can do some damage if you hit the right spot. Other than that I have no experience with silencers. Leadfinger 1 Awards

A loud pop at the beginning but after that more muted than the regular fire sounds. Awards
