Sorry, qport is a bugger and not easily fixed. Last fix I tried for namft, it would boot you if frozen too long thinking you were inactive. Then I hear, hey whats going on. So if you set it to 3 minutes you get 3 minute of downloading the new map before it releases you and lets somebody else use that spot. At the same time it hold you for 3 minutes in the case of duplicate qport. After 3 minutes you can go back and try to get back in. So the best way is close the game and restart it. The closet thing I can figure is it happens with the hand off to the redirect. That's a guess. How long the duplicate qport remains is a setting we can change though. I think that because if you lower or raise the connection time to the main redirect it it lowers or raises the time you stay connected with the qport error. All other time related settings affect the players in game. @@Blaze the ff error is a bad map download you have. Try to remember what maps you are getting problems with and delete them and reload. http://www.xiredirect2.com/redirect/cod5/usermaps/ Another thing everybody can do is learn how beyond compare works http://www.scootersoftware.com/download.php and make sure the maps you have match the maps on the redirect. One of the biggest repairs we did was insuring the maps on the game server and the redirect were exact copy's of each other and that solved 99% of all the errors we used to get. Not just a random crash that only takes 30 seconds to reset? I believe it to be random. I have all the maps on my hardrive and once in a while, I'll get a qport error. Now I think it comes when loading between maps and noticed that if I do something to disrupt the game during this time, I may end up erroring out and then the qport error pops up. And by disruption, it could be as simple as hitting a keyboard key, as silly as that sounds, that causes an 'unhandled exception' error which then leaves me hanging for a qport error. I am going to test this out of course and on which maps but this is just my own personal observation on my machine. In the mean, I will be looking at the server files to try different things but as Labob said, there are timing settings that do affect the player in game which I did one time. So the best thing right now is to get a hold of an admin on TS, try disconnecting and connect momentarily to another sever, or as beers suggested, drop out at end of map before the next map reloads (although you will miss the end of match banter and bashing). I undedrstand the mechanics that produce the qport error. In nutshell, it's a crash between maps that leaves the server waiting for a reply from your computer, or in the absence thereof, it times out and drops your connection. But in the meantime, it's a qport error when another instance of the game on your computer trys to connect while the server is still waiting for your last session to respond. I posted what I believe is the setting responsible for the "regular" timeout interval - 30 seconds in your case. Labob has said something about the redirect - exactly what he's trying to tell us, idk, but then I'm stupid when it comes to trying to interpret the written word of Labob. He even posted a chunk of settings pertaining to the redirect. The only thing I thought odd was the line that reads: seta sv_wwwDlDisconnected "0" - which I believe (partly because of my interpretation of Labob's comments) should be set to "30" just like the other timeout. However, I'm unclear why a qport error should be happening that is taking longer than the 30 seconds already set. I questioned whether the long-duration qport error was happening only if the person crashed downloading a map, but the answer I think I got was, no, it happens at random. That would seen to relieve the redirect from suspicion. That takes us back to the original post I made containing the setting for the 30 second timeout. As for the maps possibly not matching the redirect, there is a "house keeping" feature of the Downloader that deletes all local maps. It forces the player to download all the maps again, but it's the only way for the layperson to make sure their maps match. I'm not all that sure that would be the problem, and I say that because I think I'm hearing that this is a widespread issue, not just one or two players. If it is so widespread, then the only way the redirect could be suspect is if someone was up there messing around with the maps and a bunch of them got corrupted. Not out of the question, but unlikely. And Labob did say an effort was put into ensuring all maps match all servers. If you suspect file corruption between servers is the root cause, do you have the tools to do a comparison? I do, but I don't want to get in the middle of your efforts. I'm interested to hear if the setting change you made worked; however, as I was writing this Gatorgirl PMed me on TS telling me Kami was just stuck in a qport error - "<17:38:36> "Gatorgirl>XI<Adm": well, kami was just on here and he is having the same problem as Blaze getting kicked between maps and can't reconnect due to duplicate port" Let me know if I can help in any way. And no there is no stepping on toes to do this it should be done from time to time to insure maps are all the same. Same goes for the mod folders. Players should correct any issues between their map folder and the redirect. The qport error is not a random error it only happens between map changes. It is when your in the game and the game server queries your machine for certain info so you sync with the game server. If there is an issue between the two or there is some loss of communication your game crashes and cannot tell the game server your gone. So the game server retains your player status till it times you out. The game has never been good with this but I've found the problem is usually from a player having a bad copy of the map or mod. Now for how much time to allow it well that's up to the person who makes the choice. If its too low you lose people who take a long time to download a map from our redirect and it kicks them to the game server for the map giving you the complaints of downloading maps at 12 kbs. And yea I'm not technically trained I'm self taught so I do not posses the good talk for said stuff. But I care and have people skills. So I'm able to say DJ was not calling me stupid back there he was just lacking in people skills. Merlin007 1 Awards
