COD5 Help

I downloaded my Steam version of COD5 to my laptop and COD5 works fine, however, when I am playing on XI servers (Mods) the game locks up my laptop after the Mod downloads.  Anyone know how to fix this problem?  Thanks.

I have version 1.7.1263.  Now sure why it only locks up on XI mods.

I have the COD5 steam version 1.7.1263 on my PC which works fine on XI servers.....

I don't know if you get any specific error message or not, but did you try to delete the mod that you already have in your folder (maybe if you copied your profile and such) and try to join the server again to download it again ?

she ment  check your windows firewall .......allow program through

open settings  type firewall in search select ...allow program through firewall and if not there make one by click box allow another app swlt cod folder and mpcod.exe

Yes, I have Windows Firewall checked to allow COD5.  I haven't downloaded any mods from the XI website.

It's better to let the game download mods. I'm on a phone right now so I can't help to much but You can check the integrity of your game files through steam. I'd google that and see what it says. If it comes out clean remove code from steam and reinstall.

turn that program off when you play,,see what happens,,and yes also check files in steam like labob said

so in steam's library right click on your game select properties then in the new screen look for local files click it and in the new window you will see verifiy intergrity of game files. As well if that does not solve the problem when you start steam upper left side is a file menu.  Click the steam tab you will see  a backup and restore optiion in the drop down menu. Seleck backup and restore installed programs click next. select your game. And keep going.

mite be DX drivers issue  I'm on TS  if want help 

Caution warning:  before you start ......make a restore point! for may mess up everything for you are learning stuff behind the screen.

with Xi files .....you have enough room on system  to back steam game and work with edit 

Note: need show all files  in windows

Installed RAM  - 16.0 GB

NVIDIA GE Force RTX 3060 Laptop GPU

ah its the fat32 vs NTFS  issue 

like Labob say to find steam file of game, find the game MP.EXE in folder and right click and select properites then tab of  COMPATIBILITY MODE 

select XP 

Oh other thing is when you install patches  did you use ADMIN mode to run exe by right click installer .exe

Hmmm OS is software as in windows 3.1 or win 10 

i see your hardware is more then enough to run game

Hey want 3 way conversation  we all need TeamViewer, Labob can join also  ...3 heads are better than 1

My version is the Steam version 1.7, which i assume has all the patches?   I don't have TeamViewer but I can download it tomorrow.  Are you stateside?  Also, I tried the compatibility mode XP, Windows 7 and Vista with same results.  I wonder if it is the video card?   Fortunately, i have COD5 on my PC which works fine, but I wanted to run the game on my laptop from time to time.

I was trying to hook up to the COD5 XI Vietnam Freezetag server.

Could be the mod. Did u try the ow freeztag server. Most of us play that one

Yes, I tried the OW server and it did not work.  Works fine on "original" maps.

If you can join original maps maybe you should check in game settings:

multiplayer options:

allowing downlaoding to Yes

maybe...

That's definitely weird because I've always used default setting. Hope u can get it fixed can always use the help to freeze those buggers on the server
