COD4 Patch 20.5 / 21.1

Hi friends,

why can not update the patch 21.1 through the game. When I want to join a server that has the update on it does not work .can you download it where.

Guessing you want COD4X v21.1?

Try Doing a manual install. Download the windows client and open the readme and follow the instructions.

Last version was pretty darn buggy. Lots of sound issues and messed up textures.

Hello friends. I also have trouble getting the new version.
No message will be sent to me when I enter my phone number.

It's client side patch. To my knowledge It is allowed. I've been running it for a few months and I can say for a fact that it gives no advantage to running the stock 1.7 patches.

All it does is make the game run a bit smoother and give better stability on newer PC hardware with support for more textures and sound formats. It gives No advantage other than stability and maybe +15-25 fps depending on your hardware.

hi Jester i was using the cod4x patch also but install fucked up my cod game now cant play it anymore. its loading the 1.7 .598 version.

but this version i dont see XI servers how can i solve this??

Rose i was using the cod4x also cause i wasnt able to make 1,7 version too see Xi servers . im using the steam game

Gives advantages in terms of expanded asset counts for several important things, increasing map compatibility greatly even for big mods. Dont know anything about additional sound formats since that would require compiling in decoders and such. Some of which would have licensing problems. Activision got rid of mp3 decoders, which cost them a lot of money, because of that reason and went with open source. And of course greater anti-cheat protection.

In any case, the main reason for the update was the loss of their domain extension and change to ovh. Requiring both cod4x servers and all clients that use it to update. The older clients still look for the update servers with the old domain extension.

any time you try something.......

BEFORE you test it . if messes up,  can roll back to what you had

need to have 2 installs of Game and you can't play on XI server for version not match

Do not attempt to install COD4X manually if you are running the Steam version.

Uninstall cod4x (Run uninstall.cmd. You might have to run it as administrator) and Replace your iw3mp.exe file with this one and see if it will load.  

 

To install COD4X Steam version follow this currently working tutorial.

Basically all you have to do is Join a server that is running COD4X server side client and it should bring up a prompt to install COD4X. Click OK and let it install.

It does something with the sounds especially the ambient sounds. 2 cod4x patches ago it was sorta messed up. You could hear the RC cars and foot steps out of the left speaker but not the right.

The patch before this new one was quickly released to fix that issue but it messed up some of the textures. Certain rock textures would render as solid white and some maps would crash immediately apon joining.

The latest patch seems to have fixed everything. I haven't had a single hiccup so far and it feels quite a bit smoother overall, even when the server is lagging a bit which it occasionally does.

Try reinstalling 1.7.

Na just have to replace the iw3mp.exe with a 1.7 patched version.

i finally found that my version downgraded  1.7  was ok but the .exe icon i had was not the good one , and i finally found it and it worked so im not using cod4 x anymore , thx to you and krunch,

i told you before im not a crack on computers thx for hints

Ranks are kept if your player profiles for the servers. If you still have the old ones, copy them back.

If you reinstalled the game. You probably didn’t save your profile folder located in the cod4 file location, maybe?

I had server texture errors with cod4x on 2 maps and I quit using it. I might go back for these reasons

1) Cod4x does not crash on map changes

2) you can alt/tab and minimize to see desktop AND do it without crashing

3) it runs much smoother 

4) it does not crash

5) Did I mention it doesn't crash? Seriously Running windows 10 and 11 on stock CoD MW it crashes every map. If it doesn't crash on the map load it crashes about 10 seconds after joining. If I need to win key or alt tab off of the game more than twice on any map, it crashes. It's hard to stay motivated playing the game because it just crashed 10 seconds after getting back into the server after it just crashed switching maps. 

6) I tried compatibility mode, every setting Winxp thru win7, it's all the same. I have no crashing issues with any other games, software or OS.

7) I'll take not being able to play 2 maps (so far) over game crashing. 

* I bought a new Video card yesterday (3080 and retiring the 1080) I am going to wait and see if anything changes. I doubt it but it could just be current drivers not meshing with a 15 yr old game. CoD 4 always did crash a lot with cust maps/mods but what I'm getting is redic.
