Last night he had wiped the floor with Pink, P3nhead, Fry,Sharpe and all the other wannabe great players in COD4. He was now the greatest player Ftag had ever seen. This completed the set, he’d already headed the field in COD2 and WAW, surely now they would bestow on him the ultimate honour, to join the clan and eventually oust the Seniors and reign supreme in the world of gaming. After all he was a young 47, still living with mam and dad, but with years of gaming ahead of him, to which his life was dedicated. Occasionally he longed for a girlfriend you didn’t have to inflate, but hey ho, every great player makes sacrifices don’t they? Besides which he knew she loved him judging by the squeaks and hisses when he kissed her. The only drawback was that he knew everyone hated him, even more than that Robmc, and boy was he hated. That was the problem, you had to get asked and no one would talk to him, they all faked stealth mode now when he played. The man who had asked Robmc all those years ago had been punished by wandering around in limbo, looking for someone to play with, R.I.P. Beers. No one would risk asking him to join, they’d be fed to Piglo in an instant, a fate worse than playing all morning with MajBasil, they wouldn’t risk that? He could join Essssieeee, Dot and Bio on their Ftag server, but he knew what happened to those getting close to Essssieeee by Rob, no on second thoughts MajBasil would be a preferable fate. So how to do it?? And then he had a thought?? How about if I married into the Clan?? Brilliant, couldn’t refuse me then, might even make some tiny idiots for Piglo to feed on. He looked through the members section, picturing the wedding already, surrounded by gamers, headsets on and frantic with energy, wait until she saw his joystick, it was a done deal. They could honeymoon at the next conference, now who should he choose?? Better start at the top he thought :- Gatorgirl, risky?, I’d have to contend with her Texan cowboy bodyguard, armed to the teeth WldPenguin, possible, but too much competition in game, sexy voice distracting Sally, a definite probable love her ftag server, would mean changes in my gaming Ausigirl, too far away to return to Mam and Dad if things went ‘tit’s up’. I've been seeing and hearing complaints about the maps on COD4 a lot lately, so I wanted to address a few things. Here are some things you may or may not know about maps and rotations: 1. The game is almost 20 years old, so there are not a ton of new maps coming out anymore. 2. Of the 2,000 ish maps in the COD4 downloader, only about 550 or so actively work on the mw2 freezetag mod. 3. Also, many of the maps are made for deathrun, zombie, sniper only, etc., and will not work with the freezetag mod. 4. Maps that haven't been tested - that requires time and effort. Need at least one admin and two other volunteers to test maps. The maps have to be uploaded, made sure they don't crash the server, test for killstreaks and make sure round changes don't crash. I've found that for every 30 or so maps that I've uploaded, about half crash the server, so that narrows the testing choices by 50% right there. 5. There are currently 75+ rotations that have been created by many admins, members, and non-members. We go through those rotations on a mostly weekly basis, and yes, some maps are repeated if they are in several rotations. If you've created a rotation and we've used it, it won't come back around for quite some time as we work through all the other rotations. If you submit more than one rotation, the subsequent rotations need to be different than the first one, or else it won't get used as a unique rotation. 6. If you want to help with map testing or creating a rotation, please let me know. We can set up some sort of schedule if enough people want to help test maps. I can also give you the guidelines for creating a rotation. 7. And finallly, it's not easy or likely to please everyone. Some complain it's the same old maps, others complain when there are new maps that they don't know. There are complaints from people who don't like sniper maps, or they don't like small maps, and so on. Map rotations are generally created to include small, medium, and large maps (usually 3-4), so that all playing styles can have fun in the server. A total of 25 maps is the ideal number for a rotation. If you have any questions or concerns, you can send me a pm. I hope that this has helped you gain a better understanding of what it takes to keep the COD4 freezetag servers running with map rotations that are changed more often than most other games that XI hosts.
