That is a killer idea. I can work wonders with wood. I can build a fucking killer house or make a chess board or dresser or what have you. But I can't hardly do shit with mechanic shit. Bare minimal anyway. I have boats and four wheelers. I always have my brother help me. He has boats and airplanes. He bought a drug plane from Nicaragua that came in boxes and got that plane flying. It had bullet holes in it and a trap door for throwing oiut the dope. He bought one in North Carolina and was coming back and lost an engine in Missouri, then he took a commercial flight to LA, had an engine shipped to Missouri. He then went back and put the engine in the plane and flew it back to Olympia, WA. Every time you work on a plane it has to have a federal inspection. He also took second in the nation at Indianapolis in a mechanics competition. Cool shit.

Whenever he would help me, half the time it was some obvious shit that I didn't think about. I couldn't ask for better help. But sometimes he is busy and I feel like a pain in the ass to him, so a new forum would be cool.

I hope the forum happens. Cool

When you say he lost an engine you mean it dropped off the airplane? Usually it meana it just quit on him. LOL  I guess if he had an engine shipped to Missouri he truly lost the mother fucker. Too fuckin funny. I hope the airlines I fly with never comes over intercom and says  we just lost an engine. You know Part of the wing is going with that.

YOU ALL ARE IN LUCK!!  ONE THING I CAN DO IS FIX AUTOS. I am master ASE- L1 and L2- Chrysler and GM MASTER certified..  been sent to Chicago and  MN. for tech training.also I have done online diagnostics- Owned my own shop for ten years AND can rebuild a carb with my eyes shut---that tells you how old I am- lol I have access to ALLDATA pro and Chrysler tech-connect.Been doin it for 25 years--PM ME and I will help!! Sabre---does it back fire on decel?? or when.... THE HEATER HOSE RUNS OVER THE DISTRIBUTOR ON THOSE so it cause condensation between the distributor cap and spark plug wires-- pull the coil wire and the #4 wire at the distributor cap and see if they are corrode--I have seen the coil wire corrode completely off the distributor cap.. the more info you can tell me the greater chances I can help. That is what I love to do so hit me up and I will be more than happy to help.

Carbs are pretty simple wolf, just keep an eye on what comes out and where-sometime there are checkballs or springs--so take apart slow and  atv's  don't have many parts but just watch for little stupid things like a checkball somewhere. Float level is critical- if you are re-building it is usually from float being too heavy and not at right level or accelerator pump/diaphram bad. kit probably only has  a couple of gaskets--universal so some might not be used---an accelerator pump, spring and sometimes a float---oh and the checkball that if you didnt see come out dont worry about it lol--make sure you get float! cause sometimes that is not included in kit, and that is what is probably going to fix your carbs--they sit and get saturated with fuel -makes them heavy and floods out. Your air fuel screw---screw all the way in -don't force it just bottom it out and then 2 full turns out -that will get you goin then you can fine tune afterwards.

1: float level critical

2: sometimes on accelerator pump-  if it is plunger type and not diaphram-I rub a little vaseline on it-fuel takes  it away and keeps the cup from inverting.

Hi Rougekill, thanks for taking the time to help, very cool. It happens on exceleration, and after it worm up, I think part of it is the rings are leeking in a couple of the cilenders, I checked the spark plugs and a few of them  were wet and black with oilly residue. and when it back fires a nice puff of blue smoke comes out. Its very hard for me to go at a stop light because of all the back fireing. when on the freeway if I take the OD off the reves jump a 1000 rpm higher it runs a little better, but not good. I go through 2 quarts of oil a week. thanks again brother for the help

also Rouge I did check the spark plug wires when i changed the spark plugs (and it did run really good for about a half and hour)and didn't  see any burn marks where the wires touched, because i though it might be arcing if they were touching, i have seen it before with other trucks i had in the past that had similer problems

WOW 2 QTS A WEEK? which plugs are fouled? Cause if they are not firing it will cause "cylinder wash" - excess fuel  will cause the rings to not seal. Also they will look like that if they are not firing properly. how many miles on it? The backfirng is what  makes me wonder because if the oil was causing the plugs not to fire there would be no backfire. I still think you just maybe have a severe case of a KV problem-which means plugs are not firing right. please check the wires at cap and also the distributor rotor. If you had an oil fouling problem you would get no backfire and if you had a low lobe(worn cam) you would get more backfire on high revs--- I still believe you have a simple prev. maint problem--wires/cap/rotor. Also i know this sounds dumb, but check you pcv valve- pull itout of the valve cover when it is running put your finger over the hole and see if the check valve moves. We always say--back to the basics -that is 90 % of all problems. I flip cars now and you wouldn't believe how many I get that they think are DONE and it is something simple.

it occurred to me today, while i was replacing the seal for my accelorator pump on my carb, that maybe an automotive forum would be a nice touch. I know we got some mechanics who know a thing or two round here, and for those of us would be mechanics who are kinda daring( and broke) it would be nice to consult some folk before risking all on something like home auto repair.
