I cannot watch without shedding a tear.

More than heaven I would hope this to be true.

I agree with all of you. Dogs truly are man’s best friend. They enrich our lives and lift our hearts. They love us as much as we do them.

SOB, just do it.

A new dog never replaces the one you lost but will earn it's own special place in your heart.

I have had dogs in my life since the day I was born and will until the day I die. My memories of pets have caused me to shed many a tear but has never deterred me from bonding with a new pet.

And don't feel slighted Johnny, I also have a cat.

I am most fortunate because my wife and I both share a love of pets as does each of my children

The poem came to mind because we just found out yesterday about my son's new wife losing her pet dog. We sent them the poem.

A few minutes ago I got a call from my son, he and his wife will be over in about 30 minutes............... with their new puppy!

Take a lesson from them SOB............ go get a pup.

All I can say is WOW!!!. I balled my eyes out, and still am as I write this. I have three dogs now and the though of losing one of them kills me. But sadly I know the day will come when I will. They are eleven yrs old now, and the older they get the more I think about it, even though I try not to. When the time comes, I want to do it as my Mom did, She had to put her buddy down a little over a year ago. Her Vet. had a table that could be raised up so she could rest he head right in front of his and look into his eyes, and as my Mom look into Bears eyes and was petting him, she thanked him for all his love and friendship. And told Bear how much she loved him, and told him how much fun they had together, walking in the mountians, and playing with his faverit toys, or just sitting at home together. Every time she said these things to him, his tail would wag or his eyes would open wide,  My Mom keeped hugging and talking to Bear until he was gone, she wanted him to feel her love as he had loved and protected her all his life. Bear felt her love till his very last moment in life!!!  When my Mom told me and my girlfriend this story, we were both in tears. I hope I can be their till the end with my best buddies and friends as my Mom was.

One thing I can say is our best buddies and friends, at the first sign of trubble as humens will do, will not leave our sides but will stick with us through the best and worst of situations and no matter what the out come is, love us just the same. Weither we are homeless or broke or have a home it doesn't matter to them, they will still be their. MAN'S BEST FRIEND, A DOG.

I have lost many dogs, but the hardest one was BEAR. He just showed up at my place as a puppy, and slept on my chest the first night. He was the most loyal dog I have ever had and I loved him. I was beside him when he died, and I cried more than I can remember. I buried him in a nice shady spot on my property. I still visit his grave often, even though it's been 2 years since he died.

We put Baby down two weeks ago Thursday. Registered Himilayan, had her for 17 years. Sweetest cat we ever had. She developed diabetes on top of other problems and the vet wanted to do it this summer, but we couldn't bear the thought. It got to the point she was in pain. It's always a hard, hard thing to do, especially if, like my wife and I, you've always been "cat people."

We still have four cats.
