Hey guys.

My NVidia Geforce 9600 GSO just got fried, it seems. Ah well, I guess I'll have to survive a weekend without Crysis. It's just a weekend after all... Just a couple of days... Not a big deal... I'll live... I can do it.... O M G !!!!, a whole weekend, NOOOOOOOOOOO..... wuahhhhhh... sniff sniff... calm down... focus... that's it... pull yourself together man...

So, anyway, I guess I'll have to get a new video card. I do however need some advice on which one to get. I want a good quality one but I'd like to be able to get it without having to get a second mortgage on the house or selling the car and the dog :-) Any tips? Anyone?

TIA!

I know Ray would say ATI...

If you are staying with NVIDIA, get a 200 or 400 series.

okay this is always hard to decide... LOL

its always a matter how much money you can spend...

I have 2 x 5770 vapor-x in CF and a 4 Ghz cpu to play crysis on very high with average 35 fps ;)

if you have 150€ to spend you should go for 6850 of ATI

the 460 of Nvidia is almost a little faster but I dont like the temperatures of this card...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130577

That would work and just under $160

Now ATI for less money you could get the 5770 and its a faster card

Thanks guys.

Well, my PC is pretty standard I guess:

Intel Core2 Duo CPU, E8400 3.00Ghz, 4GB RAM.

I'm running Vista and using a Razer DeathAdder mouse.

And so far, my graphics cards candidates are:

GIGABYTE GEFORCE GTX 460 - 768 MB GDDR5 - PCI-EXPRESS 2.0 - 154€

SAPPHIRE TECHNOLOGY RADEON HD 6850 - 1 GB GDDR5 - PCI-EXPRESS 2.1 - 159€

Still haven't made up my mind though...

Hoping to hear more opinions.

If the budget is a little better, try the 295 GTX (dual GPU on 1 card), running it for 1 1/2 year, no prob, lots of memory....  On Ebay or else, you might find it for +/- 250 - 300 U$ I think....

Not many peeps think so but I am a firm believer in following your chipset. If your chipset is nvidia stay with that. If it is ati stay with that. I have run into many problems when attempting to mix match........just an opinion though.......

I'm confortable around 150€. Maybe a bit more if the card is really worth it.

1 EUR = 1.3 USD (they're worth practically the same)

I second most people and say that I would go for either GTX460 1GB version or a HD6000-series card.

some info on benchmarks, comparisons, power draw and overclocking capability. Hardwarecanucks is beyond reproach when time comes for straight up legit reviews...

yea if u go nvidia, go for an evga,

best support ever.

if u have a problem with the card u just send it back to evga europe, and they send u another card.

as simple as it is.

i had a problem with mine, they send me a better model that is stable like a big tank.

also, be sure to get one of the latest if u go for a 400 serie, because they fixed a few problems with latest batch.
