It is hard to sell something that you cherish. It is really hard to get top dollar prices right now. I have sold about 12 guns in the last 4 months. I just sold a custom built .257 Roberts, never been fired for $300. A beautiful gun. Yours sounds like a great gun also. It is a nice deer weapon, don't expect to take anything bigger than deer. But that is probably what you got it for. I don't beleive people need a bigger gun for deer hunting. If they do it is a guy thing and not for neccesity. I have taken about 50 deer with a .243. It is not the greatest gun for anything else. But I have shot 3 elk with it, with one shot a piece. Hit them right and they fall like a rock. I have seen what a .30-06 does to a deer and I refuse to kill a deer with something that big, unless it is a head shot. You hit a deer broad side just behind the front leg, like you are supposed to, you will get blood shot from front shoulder to the rear quarter. That is a huge waste. I have seen it numerous times. With a smaller caliber rifle, you would get a small entrance wound a exit wound about the size of a fifty cent piece, maybe a little bigger. Not much waste. I was just making my agruement for using smaller calibers for deer hunting. Which you probably already know. Just trying to help you out when people ask ypu why such a small caliber. Smaller calibers are not for long range shots but most of the deer I have taken were less than 150 yards. So for all of you people needing a good deer rifle then hit her up. That is about the going price for that weapon right now. And the price will only get higher in time. So it is a great investment. Awards

The numbers show that it was used in WW2 in the Pacific Theater. It has a fair amount od wear on the stock, but everything else is in good shape. I have a gunsmith looking it over before I take it out and play with it. With my AK74 and SKS I am ready for some real fun. Vulture

To be honest the price seems a bit high, depending on the optic you have mounted. I've been seeing those used going for $500-$550 on a regular basis. Any pics? I used to collect WWII rifles, then I had kids. I still have my entire collection and I've added a few modern rifles such as a SIG 556 but it's rare that I get to take them out and play with them now. Now my money goes to daycare, not boom sticks. Here's my collection: http://www.weaponsofww2.net/

With the license you can buy many guns 50 yrs older and older with no problems. You can buy direct from a licensed seller via the Internet or gun shows. The license is not hard to get nor is it expensive. This link provides a good read: http://www.surplusrifle.com/shooting2005/howtogetyourcurionrelicffl03/index.asp Good sites for looking for C&R eligible guns are: http://www.gunbroker.com/ and http://www.auctionarms.com/ M-1 Garands, 1903 Springfields, KAR 98's Mosin Nagants, 1917 Enfields, .30 Cal Carbines, SKS, Arisaka's and many pistols are all C&R eligible. If you ever think of collecting do yourself a favor and get the license. Sorry, Brits and Canadians need not apply

I had my C&R for years but let it expire 2 years ago since I was no longer actively purchasing and selling anymore. You get much better prices online through places like aimsurplus, SOG, and centerfire systems than you'll ever find at a gunstore or gunshow. The paperwork is easy and they process it quickly. The only downside is that you have to keep your records as you could be audited so people who fear big bother need not apply. CMP is another great site for getting M1 Garines, carbines, and M1903s. Pretty much all of these out there are CMP rebuilds anyway, might as well get them straight from the source. http://www.odcmp.com/ Mazdarati, glad to hear you sold it.
