I have a shitty old computer. Since im not that old and dont have a steady income, I havent been able to replace any pieces until this year, when i replaced my video card. The next pieces I need to replace are my stock CPU and Motherboard. I only make minimum wage since im only 16 :( so really expensive pieces wont work. Does anyone out there have a suggestion of a good, relatively cheap CPU and/or motherboard?

If you're going on the cheap I would recommend the AMD X4 965.

Turn your damn caps lock off please

In the 100- 150$ range it's the best processor you can get.

I hear ya ChenChen.  Expensive pieces don't work for me either.  Check out TigerDirect as well.  Sometimes they have decent board & CPU combo's for not too bad of a price.  Won't be high end of course but plenty suitable for gaming on a tight budget.  When you do shop around, just keep in mind when comparing hardware such as the mobo and ask yourself, 'Do I just want something better than what I have now?' or 'Do I want something better than what I have now with some room for upgrade later?'.

Happy shopping.

Merlin007,

although Tigerdirect MIGHT have a deal once in a while, I don't recommend anybody to buy there...usually their prices are out to lunch...

Chen,

NCIXUS.com,Microcenter, Newegg.com,  in the USA...

You can use PRICEGRABBER to find the best price for your parts...

Please give us a "ballpark figure" of how much you're willing to spend...

A X4 965 or even a 6-core 1055T can be found for cheap

Pricing from Newegg.com as of today, May 23Th

A X4 955 sells for $119

A X4 965 black edition sells for $139 free shipping at the Egg.com

X4 970 for $159...

A 1055T X6 for $159...

A 1090T X6 black edition sells for $189...might be a good idea in the mid-term, especially if your low on cash and you want the computer to last longer.....

If I'd go AMD, I'd pick a black edition, they have unlocked multi, so overclocking is easier...

I don't know much about AMD compatible RAM and mobos, but a few guys here are running X4 and X6 CPUs...I think BAMA and nobodygood are...

Those are great suggestions, when trying to get 'bang for the buck'. If you get an AMD cpu, then Nobodygood and I can help ya pick mobo/ram if you want the help. You can't go wrong with the 1090T X6 or even the 965 X4 black edition.. both great processors.

Agreed Mofo.  Tiger is not always the best, have to catch them at the right time.  Newegg is also a good choice and I do like CanadaComputers.com as well.

Check on Ebay for 775's motherboards. Some you can get for 40bucks(Asus P5KR f.e.)  and second handed Q6600 G0 or higher.

I would stick with Newegg. you will not get burned prices and delivery are right on target and as far as processors, I think bama has ya covered.

And I would be glad to help if ya need it.
