Any suggestions,

I've been told this error (iw3mp)  is related to the sound card,  mine is intermittent.  It shuts down my game at any random point. Sometimes right away sometimes after 30 minutes and sometimes not at all.

I running a quad core AMD with Win 7 Pro.

Head set is Razor Megladon.

Sound card - not used when playing as Razor is self contained and plugs into usb. I've used a cheat headset and still had the same problems.

Any thoughts as I get dropped at the most inopportune times, then it looks bad as I re start up and sign back in and end up on the other team half the time.

You could try updating your sound drivers for a start, it might work, but if you Google this problem there are lots of possible solutions, usually different ones work for different people, so it might be trial and error.Smile

i just got this bad after i tested the demon ftag mod. I couldnt even get to the join game menu with my profile, the iw3 error would popup every time. Had to launch mod from mod menu for the join game menu. What i did was after i got in i  changed the name on my classes(cuz i thought some new info might do something i hoped) went out of game, toggleed sound back and forth from headset and realtek speakers in the tray, the same with mic, cut it on and off a couple, then rejoined game and...voila..in like flynn. Good luck .

I have updated my sound card and did everything google tells me to do. I found out last night that if i just start my game up through the mod option then i have no problem with that error. I didnt even have to change my classes or anything.

What you don't want to do is reinstall the game, wipe the hard drive, etc. etc. It will do no good. I occasionally get that error, and lately (COD5) I am getting an out-of-memory error (have plenty of installed memory and drive space.) Best thing I've found for it is to use the updater and keep your maps updated. This usually occurs for me when the map changes.

I get it all the time, updated maps, mic plugged in, changing names in folders, etc. Nothing seems to work. It if very frustrating, to the point I don't play a lot anymore because of it. (Playing a lot of World of Tanks lately). I have reinstalled, updated drivers, just about everything else, but have never heard of opening through mod folder. Might try that next if I can get some direction. Too bad the developers won't look into it, but it seems it is only mods that cause it so I am sure they don't really care that much.
