Well Dean just needs to go get a fucking Mac. FUCKING BITCH ASS COMPUTERS!!!!!!!!!!!!! hahahaha i am not happy as I could not resolve. Dean has an ASUS M3N-HT-DELUXE mobo. I went to ASUS to check for updated bios.. Dean has like the first or second one and he def needs to update. I go here and get the latest BIOS. http://support.asus....a4Zc9Wj4y1RINc4 It comes in a .bin file format. We tried to put on a flash drive and use the flash updater 2 utiltiy in the BIOS but I could not get to work. This thread explained what to do. The video says to put on a bootable flash drive.. dont think that is correct just a flash drive is needed. Then I read you need to extract the .rom from the file so I got magicdisk to do so and it errors out trying to extract. So not sure if that is needed. http://www.overclock...-ht-deluxe-bios If anyone has a asus and knows how to update Deans bios.. please let us know. I am so pissed at his PC right now.. hahahaha A MAC is welcome at this point. Sure is alot of work to do just for a 1 minute job. 1 minutes turns to hours. WTF!!!!!!! I dont not miss working on computers. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Do I just use the .bin file or do I need the .ROM? Do I burn the .bin to a cd then install off it or what? Dean does not have Nero so need a solution for that as well again if needed. I am pretty sure updating the BIOS will resolve his other memory problem not being able to see all 8gb of memory. Im am confident updating the BIOS will resolve his machine locking up which is a driver bios conflict. If I am wrong this is a good direction to talk until I learn otherwise. Dean when you get more info and you need my help.. please call me on my phone. Later brother.. next time you upgrade get a fucking mac. hahahahaha Awards

I have a ASUS too. I was having problems with my bios update too. I got in contact with ASUS Support,Motherboard. They might have a bios chip that you can install very easy. With the bios update. Don't install the bios update yourself. I learned my lesson on that. You could mess up your Bios big time. It's three dollars for the chip. Also they can send it to you in two days. It is well worth the wait. I couldn't do anything. Till the new Bios chip came in. Plus you don't want to send your motherboard in for them to fix it. It will take atleast 4-6 weeks. Just trying to help, Good luck Asus Bios updates are very bad if the image or the file is corrupted. Be Carefull BigPapaDean 1 Awards

Is there something it does not see when you boot up ? Because if your bios see's everything you have in your box memory video card prossessor and so on updating it will not fix anything. Thats all a bios does tells the OS what you have plus the time and date start up options ect. Your video freezing in game has nothing to do with your bios. Awards

Subtrack what the MB needs and some other little things and a 32 bit system will ussually see about 3.5 gig of ram. If he wants more ram then he will have to go to a 64 bit OS. There's nothing wrong with old if it works. I ussually advise people to update only if it will add a feature you need or would like to use. updating for no reason except for the sake of getting the latest crap and never needing it is prone to give problems. Take video drivers . They add new features so gamers can play the latest games. If you don't have the latest games why are you updating its something you will never use. Every update lists the things they have changed read the list before you go do it. I bet ya won't need anything in it. Awards

Your computer would not run period. Do you mean the bios your trying to update to is not compatible ?? Here is a copy of your user manual. http://static.tigerdirect.ca/pdf/Asus_M3N-HT_Deluxe_Series_Manual.pdf In it you will find out how to reset your bios I think it was 14-4 Could you also check to see if your really runing a 64 bit system for me. Start button / control panel /system . From what I've read there is no setting to turn on or off your memory sockets so if you have 2 4 gig sticks make sure there in the right sockets if you have 4 2 gig sticks you have a bigger problem because you have a socket not being read or a bad memory stick. Also I still don't see how this is going to solve the video card freezing. Thats all I got for now good luck. Awards

And Labob is right...maybe you have a bad slot or bad ram? Have you tried to run a memory test on the new ram yet? You could also have the problem of others drivers being out of date! this is the driver update program I use, its great and updates everything for you, you don't have to do shit except....run it! its the support link but at least you could find the program here also....hope it helps you big brother! http://www.driverupdate.net/support.php Edited June 8, 2012 by Boomer

Deans CPU is not on the compatibility list for his motherboard. I talked to Asus and was wanting to know where I can get the ROM for his bios not some .BIN they had available. The first tech hung up on my once he realized he cant find the .rom either. The second looked into the same thing and explained his problems could be due to the cpu and upgrading the bios can render the MOBO useless but he also could not point to a .ROM file either. So Dean is going to go back to the shop who sold him the mobo cpu combo and ask for the proper chip or new mobo that is compatible. IF DEAN CAN GET THE TERMINOLOGY CORRECT.... RIGHT DEAN? hahahaha But intresting fact for updating a AUSU bios. You must use a flash drive if not using the bootable floppy and DOS. The flash drive must be smaller than 4gb.. so a 2gb or smaller must be used and formatted to FAT32 before it can see it. Other than that is strait forward. Lets see if Dean can get help with the company who sold his combo. Im not updating shit if I feel i can fuck it up bad. I have updated hundreds of BIOS's over the years in servers and other. Dean and I both agree.. and since he is not crashing.. he will just have to give up the idea on playing BF3 and having that 8gb of memory installed. I will stick with Gigabyte... but I was impressed I got a hold of ASUS and had to wait very little. I have a ticket open so thy will assist me if I have further questions. So Dean when you going to that store? Let me know if you need me to explain to them what is up. Just remember CPU and Motherboard are not compatible according to ASUS. And I can get AUSU to explain that to them if needed. Edited June 8, 2012 by hxtr BigPapaDean 1
