For those lucky people living in more pleasant climes, here's a link to a graphic that shows just how much rain has fallen on the UK so far this year. Most of us have already seen over 100% average rainfall - the worst off over 35% above average. So, if we whine a little about the wetness, please forgive us. We are confident that we shan't have a hosepipe ban in 2013!

Damn DEEJAY I am not whining I am drowning and with regards an hosepipe ban in 2013 I would personally shove my hosepipe up the arse of the guy who ever mentions it on tv.

This year has been a complete washout I heve only attended the Golf course a third of what I did last year my handicap has gone from 15 to 25 and my poor dogs are developing webbed feet lol.

But at least you are ok you HAVE A BOAT lol

I bet there is a hosepipe ban somewhere, last year we had bans in parts of the country by February, unfortunately all this rain don't stay too long in our resevoirs, you need a steady rainfall not deluges all the time, unless it is a 12 month deluge of course

It's ironic that, only a few months back, boat movements were being restricted to conserve water...

I need some new waterproof trousers for when I am at the helm and that has become a priority purchase for January!

Millions of litres come from aquifers rather than reservoirs and they must surely be full to the brim now...

with aaan exception. The Great Northwest is having a higher than average rainfall. The mountains here are far above the rate for record snowfall over the record of just a few years ago. Now any body want some feel free to grab some from us here! We average between 35 inches to 135 inches per year. What is the average there? I forget how to convert from metric to inches so please help me with this.

I thought the weather is what made the British stoic, steadfast, & stalwart. Are you saying you'd rather see a little sunlight? Bit of fun perhaps? There's hope for the English yet.

Cold showers, roast beef, real ale and a genetic predisposition for fighting (courtesy of Ancient Britons, Romans, Vikings, Saxons and Normans) made us what we are. However, you have to ask why the British Empire was founded and note which parts of the world were conquered - West Indies, India, Africa and Australia are all hot and sunny places. Rumour has it that the sun even shines in Canada! ;)
