The 8300 is a Pentium 4HT processor. Single core with Hyperthreading - the first HT processor from Intel. It runs at 3GHz. Mine shipped at 1GB RAM on 2 sticks of 512MB. It had (and still does have) Win XP Pro installed. A07 is the current bios version, so you're several behind. You can get the flash file for the A07 bios from Dell. Please remove your service tag and COD WaW CD key. They are private and the latter could invoke a round of key theft. You did not mention your video card. I don't recall what mine came with, but the graphics buss on that motherboard is an 8X AGP slot. Many of the boards of that day were 128MB VRAM, so not stellar performers. Best you will find at a reasonable price is an NVIDIA GeForce 6600 w/ 512GB VRAM, but be careful if you go shopping because that board had several versions. You would need the AGP version. Not sure what's causing your black screen of partial death. I would suspect the video driver. My suggestion: Update the BIOS to A07 Update to current video driver for whatever card you have in there. - or - Get a new video card. Belted 1 Awards

I'd say delete the game and reinstall it. Where did you get the game patches ? Try our downloader for them. Also run the game as administrator . The digital error is a crazy error the game is digital off the cd or off the net. Awards

Problem comes in when the application predates the whole UAC thing in Windows and has no way of telling Windows it needs elevation to administrator. When you run as administrator, it completes it's necessary housekeeping (saving settings in the registry or whatever) and from then on it's fine with running as a normal user. Moral of the story: If an older program was just installed and it's failing, or failing after an update, run it as Administrator and see if it doesn't magically work fine. After that first time, try to run normal. Still working okay? You're good to go (till it borks out again, then just run as administrator again,) or if not, right-click the exe and set to "Run as Administrator." Note that if you set to run that way, you will always have to approve the elevation using the dim-screen/UAC dialog. Unless, of course, you have disabled UAC altogether. Please DON'T do that. That's like saying "to hell with the condom, she's on the pill." Stupid, stupid, stupid... (not always, but if you don't know who/what your dealing with, could be some bad side effects, right?)
