As some have seen I have ordered a new PC. http://www.xtremeidiots.com/index.php?/topic/35613-finally-new-p-c/

Video card on order is a VIDEO: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 Ti 2GB 16X PCIe 3.0 Video Card.

Can some of you try to explain to me in very basic, layman's term language the value of adding a second video card?

Would it enhance performance in a game like COD WAW?

Does it create possible maintenance issues?

Understand on PC's I am brain dead, I do not understand computer talk/language and never take the case off to look inside. It's worse than with my car on which I do not even change oil myself.

Also my understanding is if you already have over 60 FPS more FPS does not matter much. On my old PC I have well over 200 FPS with a NVIDIA 295.

Real plain language if you please so an old Idiot guest can understand.

scaleable link interface....s.l.i.  both cards have to be the same type [not manufacturer] or they cannot be bridged,,,and the advantages are per game...crysis might utilize both cards but cod4 can be played with most basic setups,,,,in fact i have an old dell that plays it just as well as my expensive rig.the 660 ti is a wicked card again its up to you....but sli for cod4 is overkill....i always liked overkill though....go big or go home...he he

Boom Slang :) don't worry about a second card and I'm sure your frame rate will be up in the high 80's with that card and anything over 125 on the servers won't help you out.

I am at over 200 FPS with the NVIDIA 295 in my current PC.

To show FPS type in Console before entering game /cg_drawfps 1

Don't forget the forward slash, many of us old MOH players do.

I would spend the money on water cooling block for cpu and gpu.  then you can overclock the gpu also.  you will never see double performance with another card.  If 2 cards is still what you want may I suggest one of the factory nvidia cards that are 2 cards in one.  They usually are more stable because they were made that way.  Take a look at the nvidia GTX 690 for 1,000.00 bucks.  Its 2 gpus on one board and 2 gig ram or the xfx 7970 for 500.00 with 3 gig ram

Shamu laymans terms  SLi

means using 2 cards for a task thats called appond and the resouces are piggy backed

or using 2 lanes of road instead of one = more detail to the task not any faster

IMHO big single card rules for room for to breath and no need for big PSU to drive SLi  80A on 12v rail

if you ever  did upgrade your  ram  and  fans  etc  youd  want to get the same  version  same brand of  video  card and  no  not really unless you  were playing a  high  graphics  game and  you had  enough  too  cool off  the  first  card ,   that is  where  liquid  coolers  come into play  i guess

You need games that can take advantage of 2 cards.  COD is not one of them.  I have the same card (maybe a different manufacturer; not sure whose you're getting) but my COD5 looks amazing!  And I can play Crysis 3, one of - if not THE - most badass games where needing a strong video card goes, and it looks awesome.  Would I like a second card for Crysis?  Yes, but I'm not sure it will really get me all that much more.  Probably not worth the extra coin at the moment.

Here's the good news - you can always add a second GeForce 660Ti in the future if you need/want to.  By then, the price will have come down.

I'd go with one for now if all you're really interested in is a great COD experience.  You'll get it in spades with the 660Ti

I do no "overclocking", in fact I know nothing about it and do not plan on learning.

The limits of my computer knowledge are to turn it on, play and have fun.

If it meets those requirements I am good to go.
