After I installed my new cpu I got this message that I needed to go and download and install the drivers to a chipset. Okay the following are screenshots I took when trying to do just that but I have run into a problem as when I start the installation i get this message that simply says it is only for an ASUS motherboard. Well I have an ASRock 970 Extreme 970. the following are the screenshots showing what I have run into. As you can tell I am just a little confused by all these set up files. Which one do I use to do what I need to do? Oh yes this is the Vista64. Should I have used the Vista32 instead? Please help me with this problem. There is another one I need to install also and I will need assistance with that to! Thank you for your assistance!51939fa997e9e_Popup.png51939fcf32b2f_Setup.png5193a03537301_Downloads.png

At first you should download the correct drivers for you motherboard.

I think you'll find them here (if you have one of the three listed Extreme versions: 3, 3 revision 2 or 4)

http://www.asrock.com/support/download.asp?Keyword=970+Extreme&Type=&Socket=

As far as I know ASRock doesn't use NVidia chipsets on this series.

Sorry m8, but ASRock had been outsourced from Asus in 2002 (according to the German Wikipedia article). According to the English version it "was founded in 2002"

Regardless, the drivers are definitely different. And if the model no (970) is correct: this board has not a nvidia chipset. In none of the listed revisions.

Can you use the tool" Speccy" and copy & paste you MB info here? :)

Do not install a nvidia chipset driver on an ATI board. You may just be getting this error if you are running a nvidia video card. A solution may be to get an ati video card....just a suggestion.....

Download the drivers for your Extreme 3 board from the ASRock website. Please find the link in my first post.

ATI chipset or not isn't your problem right now. The motherboard has neither an ATI nor a nvidia chipset.

Regarding the BIOS update:

From my point if view there is no need to update the BIOS. Most BIOS updates are not critical. They only provide new or updated features for hardware management.

If you don't have a problem, don't update it. "Never touch a running system" ;) You shoul only do this if you get in trouble with your new CPU.
