Some guy got arrested for pissing on a wall at the Alamo. Yeah, complete douche bag, but he got a $4,000 fine and 18 months in jail. Holy shit.

The jail part will get overturned considering small time drug pushers can get less. I suppose he could say something silly like suggesting the amount of time should have depended on the volume of piss.

It's the Alamo @@Sammy. To Texan's this is worse than taking a leak on the Vatican. It's their shrine to the birth of Texas as a country. They are kind of fanatical about it.

What an asshole!

The Alamo is a national treasure and should be respected.

18 months in jail seams a bit unusualy long. I think spending 18 months in jail is a complete waste of taxpayers money and the guilty pisser should instead be sentanced to doing various labor intensive tasks such as cleaning the restrooms at the Alamo and other public offices for 18 months.

I understand it's sacred ground, but the Alamo is under the jurisdiction of the National Park Service, and is not a Texas State park.  The punishment should fit the crime. I seriously doubt if some idiot is arrested pissing on the Lincoln memorial in DC would get more than a fine.

Of course there are judges here in California that will put you in prision for a few years if you're proven to be affiliated with the Republican party.

I'm not expert but The Alamo has a weird park history. Is it a national park, maintained  by the Daughters of the Republic of Texas? The DRT is heavily involved somehow. The state government has been involved in Alamo issues many times. Also there is a police presence there, which is odd. I don't know if the park rangers are there or not. As for the federal court, well look at California and their liberal rulings. It stands to reason the federal courts in Texas would be biased the other way. I don't really know I'm just saying.  As I said, Texas is a bit nuts. Here is a little joke to make my point.

Don't mess with Texas. Cause they're crazy!

HOW TO TELL A REAL TEXAN*

For those of you who have lived in TX, you'll understand this.
If you haven't - this may give you some insight!
And if you're thinking of moving or visiting there, I'm thinking this may be a helpful tip for you!
One day, a very gentle Texas lady was driving across a high bridge in Austin.

As she neared the top of the bridge, she noticed a young man fixin' to jump.
("fixin" in Texas means: has the means or abilities to take action)

She stopped her car, rolled down the window and said, "Please don't jump!
Think of your dear mother and father."

He replied, "My mom and dad are both dead; I'm going to jump."

She said, "Well, think of your sweet wife and precious children."

He replied, "I'm not married, and I don't have any kids."

She said, "Well, then you just remember the Alamo ."

He replied, ''What's the Alamo ?''

She replied, ''Well, bless your heart! - - - -
You just go ahead and jump you little Yankee Democrat Bastard..
You're holding up traffic"

San Antonio is a great place to visit.

Most people in Montana (where I live) wave at you when you drive by so thats not unusual but it did take some getting used too since when I lived in Calif the only thing waved at you was "the bird" lol

We visited San Antonio (and the Alamo but i pissed in the rest room) last year  and found it to be a bitchen place. Looked like a nice place to live.

I'm enjoying my stay here very much I fished Lake Fork and i'm at Sam Rayburn now and catching a bunch of fish. Headed to Port Arthur Tomorrow for a couple days then headed back to Montana. (stopping at Lake Fork again). South eastern Texas is very green right now a sight for winter sore eyes. I'm hoping Montana has gotten the memo and started spring.

I use to fish Sam Rayburn and Toledo Bend when I was a teenager. Great bass fishing!

Yes, the middle finger is the standard greeting to other drivers here in California. It happened to me just yesterday when some smug Prius driver refused to let me merge onto the freeway, so I decided to give him a forward momentum and displacement lesson with my SUV. He got the message and waved at me from behind with his middle finger as a thank you for the lesson.
