I'm about to need a new car battery before this winter begin for my 2008 honda pilot SE. the OEM 100-month honda battery came with the vehicle when I bought it new in late 2007 and I think the battery has served its time and about to run out. the OEM battery specs: cca-550, group 24F.  Any brand suggestions will be appreciated.

I've used Interstate batteries for years. However, I have a local Interstate refurbishing center, and can buy them at a really good discount. I get 5 years plus out of all of them I've bought. You can save a lot. I spend around 40 bucks for a battery that would cost 125 to 200 new in store. These are completely rebuilt. So, check your area for rebuilt/refurbished Interstate battery wholesale locations, if any.. it can save you some bucks.

I dont have much of a recommendation but I just got a battery for Nissan Altima 2007 from Costco for $75. Costco doesnt have brandname batteries but they give a similar warranty and lot less headache if there are any issues. I have my car tires from them and there are lesser gotcha and exclusions with them.

Thanks for all the inputs guys. I've just found out that there are multiple local distributors who carry interstate battery where I live and they have very good reputation. I will go with the megatron plus battery- one top of the line.  I'm not costco member and that is out of the question. costco do have very competitive price/performance for kirkland signature brand. Exide battery is so expensive to me- I need to change the battery one hand with the other hand holding a bottle of heineken (lol).  Once a again, thanks all for quick inputs.

They are like flat screen TV's  and other electronics.  Only a handful of manufacturers and each manufacturer makes many brands.  Get one from a national chain and keep the receipt for the warranty in the glove box.  That way if your traveling and have issues then it will be easy to get it replaced.
