Linux creates at least 1 but usually you have a swap so that makes 2. Mule 1

But personally I would partition it into two. I am a naturally disorganized person so it does help me keep things sorted out. Helps keep partition one semi organized but partition two can be a mess without anything to worry about. Or if partition one gets too much clutter. I also keep some of my lesser used programs installed on the second. I dont have an SSD boot drive. I am sure one day I will. Mule 1 Awards

Though I have an extra 1 tb hdd that I mirror. I back up to the 1 TB drive (essentially creating 2 backups). (That's what I did...created a mirror of OS and all programs, pics, and files.
