I have just ordered a new gaming laptop that is 6 pounds and hella fast. In a perfect world I would like to leave my work laptop at home (it's running Windows XP) and access it via the new laptop remotely (it's running Windows 8.1). Any ideas??? jn

Then you can just RDP into your boxes direct. You can spend very little on a router that will allow you to replace the factory rom and put DD-WRT on it and turn an good router into a bad ass router. Then you have choices for VPN. OpenVPN and others.... for no extra cost than the router.

I even used to use it between my home PC and my tablet while at school. It rocks! Nisty* 1
