Note about OW2 beta8

I can start with the weapons:

 

308 - Use this for every map, in every situation

 

mp90 - meh

 

ak47 - never use this weapon, ever. Never ever, ever never ever.

 

Other m4 looking thing - meh

 

m16 - only use this if you are huskie, and even then it makes no sense when you have a 308. So never use this... oh unless you plan on hiding in a corner somewhere trying to snipe.

 

All other weapons - never use them, and all the other close/mid range weapons are worthless compared to the 308. With our custom maps, there are soooooo many huge open spaces that you need the precision of a 308 and you have to make due with it in close rage situations.

 

Sniper rifles - LOL

 

Shotties - What are you? A chileno?

 

 

 

NoobToobs - Use this, but then fall into a ditch while on fire, and continue to burn in hell for eternity. kthx

Uh huh. Just because you cant use certain weapons doesnt mean others cant use them well and constantly shoot you with them. And yes the 308 is very good if you aim. It sucks if you dont. In an equal close battle the P90 and MP5 beat the 308 every time. Especially if you hip fire spray. OTOH it has the longest reload/raise/drop time of any AR. Only 2/3 of the magazine capacity compared to the ak/m16/hk416. Is a tiny bit slower for melee attacks. And so on. Meaning perks like hip fire, fast hands, and scavenger are more useful than they would be with other weapons in the class. Trade offs.

I'm loving the Shotties with dead silence. Although, it pisses me right off when someone survives a point blank to the face with it because they have body armour on...like the range limitations with the shotty aren't handicap enough!?

There is a reason Kilmaley, boom, mexican, tagger, *sometimes huskie now that I have shown her the light, alpha, bexx, and plenty more including myself use the 308 religiously. It drastically outshines every other weapon. 

 

It's simple really, the 308's positives far outweigh using anything else. In other words, the proof is in the pudding =P

Given up on knifing.

With the current hit detection issues, there is no point in knifing other than when you sneak up behind somebody. And the idea that different weapons produce different knife speeds is some wonky stuff.

It will outshine depending on what you use it for. The negatives can really hurt you in some circumstances. Such as if you are in a close quarters battle with a P90. You will run out of mag ammo much quicker than your enemy will. And it will take you longer to reload when you do. Same if you run out and need to switch quickly to a pistol or other secondary weapon. It is very good for marksmen but outclassed when it comes to going house to house or if you need to run around. Its raise time from sprint is slower.

 

Keep in mind that this is a HC server. Meaning it is a huge crutch people rely on. Bump up health from 30 to 60 and watch the people bitch and whine saying its too hard because they cant kill with one shot to the foot.

You forget the ballistics vest perk. I always hear people complain about not being able to kill me when I am using that perk.

As in all things, you pick the weapon that best fits your play style. You arent likely to run and gun with an M16. If you like to spray then you pick one with a high mag capacity, more ammo, better hip fire and faster reload times. The 308 has smaller mags and less ammo. Both starting and max. Of course if you are constantly dying the last part doesnt matter.

It can be done, and I have done with efficiency. You have to select your targets, attune your click fire, get 1-shot kills and switch targets in less than 500-800ms of human reaction time. This including the mouse button click latency. However, in the current mod with so many pussy perks, I mean the protection vest perks you cannot count on any weapon to give you 1-shot kills. 

 

I tried run and gun with a sniper rifle. I was hipfire the living shit out of people but I wasn't getting 1 shot kills even with the .50 cal. So well, 308, is an excellent all rounder but its no magic weapon.

Pussy perks? Uh huh. I am certain those that use them are quite happy that they cramp your style and aggravate you. I will say again, hardcore is totally overrated and 30 health is too low. But since that is remaining the armor option is there for those that want it. The .50 does 70 damage at all ranges to start with. Hit location modifiers will increase it for the upper torso and the head. Unlike how some think, I dont like taking things away from people like reducing claymores from 2 to 1. Nor simply disabling juggy. But I do like offering protection options like the countermeasures mine for RC defense.

 

Oh... and if this makes you mad dont complain and get the armor piercing perk. I made that up so you have the option if you want it also. Personally I find it very useful to use with snipers.

@@Sammy I just had something happen that I have never seen before. We were playing the map Junkyard and whenever I tried to select the Barret .50 cal sniper...it would spawn me in with just a pistol. Tried leaving and coming back and restarting my game and re-booting my pc...still same result.

Ok thx. Pretty good idea what the problem is. Probably trying to spawn with a silenced version of the rifle that doesnt exist. In the meantime be sure to click 'none' or 'steadycam' as the attachment to double check.

 

edit: Yea its a menu problem somewhere with an invalid attachment not being reset. In the loadout menu if you see the .50 with a silencer attachment that is wrong since there is no such weapon. Change the attachment to none or steadycam.

I know. And when you told me I suspected what the problem was. But I havent had time to check it out. I know you want instant fixes but I cant do that. 

 

As for why now and not before, its because I did a bunch of work simplifying the loadout code to make it more efficient. I missed something because I cannot test every little detail by myself. So there.
