This is how or ping looks most of the time. Sometimes, it's more red than green. We have AT&T 1.5mb DSL and it sucks. There are no other options for us. When we move to the new house on the property, AT&T won't give us internet service at all. We're just going to steal my mom's wi-fi signal for gaming and get satellite for for everything else. Mom has the same service as us.

Cable is not available to us unless we pay a ton of money to have it run specifically to us.

A year ago i had some serious rubberbanding which made playing impossible for me.

The problem occured every day at the times most people were are at home. You might have the same problem which can be connected to your ISP's regional router station. ISP`s keep connecting new customers to the same regional routers. In case of bandwith problems they add more bandwith but only if customers report issues.

I used the follwoing tool to analyse the problem. Dont wory its super easy to use. VISUALROUTE lite (free for non business users) http://www.visualroute.com/lite.html

You simply enter the IP of the server you usually play on. The tool will show the number of hops your signal takes from your computer to the target server and the pings in milliseconds. There could be many hops. But to check if your ISP or probably your home network is the problem you just need to check the first 5 or 6 hops and the ping of those. Everything in your home network should not have a ping higher than 2ms. The next hops are the servers of your ISP in your region. Those should not be higher than 10 ms. The next hops will get up depending where the target server is located around the world.

If the pings of your ISP's servers show a higher ping constantly this means the bandwith of your ISP is not big enough. I reported the problem to my ISP by sending them a report inlcuding a screenshot of the Visualroute lite screen. After 2 weeks they informed me that it was caused by bandwith overload and they installed better hardware. Since this time no problem occured whatsoever.

Hope this gives you another idea and helps.

Cheers

Thank you so much Ghostrider.  We actually did something like this and gave it to our ISP.  Unfortunately, they know there's a problem but they aren't willing to fix it.  There's only about 50 homes on our road and it's not worth it to them to install better hardware.

You could get Bama this truck attachment and have him run the cable himself to the ISP.55dc4d3ac378d_truck.jpg

Don't go too fast when running it though or he could end up like this. 55dc4d9a94f20_wrap_tangled_cables_mess.j

Don't know how your ISP does stuff in up state but in Charleston they run the cable through the sewer.55dc4e742c0ed_sewer.jpg

It's still shitty cable. LOL   Had a plumber next door tell me the other day he was snaking a sewer and got his snake caught in sewer. Had the city dig up road and they found TWC was running their cable through the sewer.

Good luck with what ever you decide to do. :beerbig: :beerbig:

@Damage_inc-you can't use dish or satellite your ping would be 999 it takes a second of time to get a signal from satellite so you could not play that either.
