Went out in the Hudson...got a few stripers, some monster blues, gang hooked bunker for live bait..(you could walk on them) and saw whales in the River...from like 30 yds....very cool but no pics happened so fast...but they were there with all tons of other fish because of all the bunker in schooled in the river....Had a great day but lost the biggest fish ever...

Striper fishing is a blast especially when they are boiling pushing the bait out of the water like popcorn . . .toss a big zara spook or your favorite  top water lure into the boil and hold on!

Those are some fat ones @@deerejon very cool.

@@little_old_man where do you go striper fishing  . .the Delta , Sacramento river?

I used to go to Havasu or Lake Mead but Silverwood and Diamond valley lake were closer.

Oh yeah, stick a piece of a hot dog or a frozen anchovie on your line cast out sit back with a cold beer and wait for that big ol kitty.

My kids used to put corn pops on a hook and catch carp, the water is so clear you could see the fish swim over and eat the corn pop and then the squeelin began . . .lol

@@deerejon I think an >XI< fishing trip would be very cool and I bet it could become more popular than the >XI<fest.

Everybody likes to fish and it would cost less. There are clan members all over the country in places where fishing is awesome and could act as guide/host to make sure things went smoothly and put the Idiots on fish.

I would be willing to guide some Idiots down the Bighorn River and guarantee no one would get skunked.

Stripers are everywhere out here @@Leadfinger, and they aren't even a native species. Haven't done much fresh water fishing for them because they are so plentiful in the bays, tributaries and the ocean. They also get much bigger in salt water and don't reproduce when they are land locked in lakes. My personal record is a 39 pounder which I released shortly after weighing it, but I've seen them caught out here up to around 55 pounds.  The state record is over 67 pounds and was caught from shore with a lure in the delta. I only lure fish either from shore or trolling by boat. One of my best friends lives on a lagoon with access to the bay through a boat lock, and we frequently fish from his dock and catch 20+ pounders using "hair raiser" lead headed jigs or cotton Cordell rattle traps.

On top of being big and great fighting fish, it's also about the best eating fish I can think of. My absolute favorite.

So funny! I used to "practice" fishing as a kid by catching Carp under the London Bridge. The best luck I have had with catfish has been in a cove anywhere out on the island. Lots of shade and mud and stuff growing in the water. Perfect for the cats!. Watch out for the snakes! Excellent place to fish. too bad I didn't know you back in the day. I don't get back there much these days.
