You can not compare the two.  Space X is a capsule !!  Like the Apollo capsule.  Limited mobility and does not fly.  The shuttle was an extremely complex plane with scientific labs on board(or jet if you like).  Like comparing a rock to a remote control airplane.  But yet a shuttle with new electronics (touch screen controls) would certainly be a much cleaner cockpit.  In the 80's, 90's and early 20's,  I worked on some of the shuttle control indicators and cockpit electronics and fuselage components, as well as military and commercial aircraft.

Thanks Mike. That certainly makes sense.  Seemed to be a pretty minimal dashboard. Still interesting either way how tech has changed.

Almost like a video game. Wow. How tech has changed all that.

Do you think they respawn if they crash?

I think you'd better get it right the first time...

The touch screens kind of freak me out.  I grew up in the tactile era of switches and buttons.  And if a switch or button malfunctions then it could easily be jumped.  Damn touch screen goes out your screwed and loose everything !!.  But I imagine they have a back up.  Maybe thats why there are two touchscreens.  Either can control all functions.
