  1. Oh my goodness! How awful and painful sounding! I know a woman who was just walking (granted she is overweight but was in her mid 80's) and her leg out of the blue broke! As a teenager, she was in a terrible car accident, and had broken her leg at the same place. ANYHOW, she lives alone and you can imagine the ordeal she went thru to try to crawl to a phone. Apparently it is that easy when folks get older for things to just break! ANYHOW, I tell my parents, don't fall... don't fall, DON'T FALL!!! Last week, my dad was reading in the living room and turned off the living room light to go to their bedroom, they have no night lights, and their house tends to be dark anyway as they live in the woods, and mom had left out a step ladder in their hallway. He banged into it, fell and it ripped his skin right off about 12 inches long, from the mid arm down to the elbow, and the elbow area was ripped to shreds. So, I show up a few days later as I am redecorating their house, and see a long blood trail on dad's shirt. What's that? I ask, then they tell me what happened... I finally finally get them to show me, I keep saying, let's go to the ER or a clinic and get you stitched up, on antibiotics, etc. No NO, NO NO, they say... We rebandage him, and he proceeds back to cleaning their cat's kitty litter box, sweeping the deck, and so on. Well, it's been a week and they are both still alive, so I figure no serious infection happened. I will see them tomorrow, wondering if they will let me see his arm/elbow. From what folks have told me, the modern day knee/hip replacement set up is really fantastic! He will have rehab to do, lots of pain meds to take and of course the worry of getting addicted to pain meds, but I think you can relax a bit so many, many folks have those types of procedures anymore. Actually, he probably needed on in the first place which might be why it broke? I do wish as our parents get older, they 1. Don't fall, DON'T FALL!!! and 2. get their flu / shingles / pneumonia / COVID shots as recommended and 3. If someone around them is sick, Stay Away from sickness Please tell your dad that an entire clan and friends are rooting for his quick recovery.

  10. Ever tried Sous Vide??? https://www.beefsteakveg.com/sous-vide-sirloin-steak/ You can precook it via sous vide, then if need it with that burned sear look, right before dinner quickly fry it with say rosemary and butter and maybe mushrooms and onions, and poof! Fantastik!
  11. And the game adventure continues... https://www.sonypictures.com/movies/jumanjithenextlevel (as long as there is money to be made via movies, toys, comic characters, this game will "never end" muhaha} As for Covid and this past 18 months or so, shesh... here we go again, 4th wave at this point? And to think I put my masks away and tee shirts saying "Stay 6 feet away" but to get them all out again... Get the vaccine STAT!
  12. We are at war with a virus. This sucks! GET THE VACCINE/Booster! STAT!
  13. Scary times for the unvaccinated for sure. My husband lost two (2) repeat TWO of his best childhood friends this week! Both had NOT been vaccinated. Both were in the best of shape, one an international weightlifter champion, who had just won his latest competition where he got COVID actually. He could lift over 600 lbs. The other was a life long jogger, health food nut, never drank or did drugs or smoked pot. Both died within two weeks of first having symptoms. CRAZY TIMES... GET VACCINATED! Heck, I am looking forward to an approved booster for everyone, so far it seems for just the most vulnerable - shesh, as it spreads to the unvaccinated it can mutate and get more and more dangerous. LET's put an END to this horrible global pandemic! 2 freaking cents
  14. Wow funstick, sounds like you are going to be driving thru a 3rd world country... sounds so freaking dangerous! Maybe you should re-evaluate where you stay overnight, where you choose to eat food and which roads you take? lol About your dad passing, I am so sorry! If you are worried that his car might break down during your drive down, it dawned on me, do you really need that car, could you sell it up there? The other option, to have it towed down to you evidently would cost 1K or so apparently, maybe all that stress and worry isn't worth it and just sell it? 2 cents ANYHOW good luck with your endeavors!
  15. I have talked about this combo before... First had it at Mellow Mushroom, now I make it at home, I made the dough ahead and freeze what I do not use into individual portions so everyone can make their own pizza with a large variety of toppings. But this Pacific Rim pizza, yummy. It sounds really weird, this combination, but kapowie it is yummy. --> https://moderncrumb.com/pacific-rim-pizza/
  16. Well, I have been/vacationed in the Solomon's Island, MD area lots over the years. Most of the time we'd airbnb or vrbo a cabin on the water (pet friendly of course), lots of fun actually, especially if you have a boat! And / or kayaks, canoes. What to do - great restaurants - Jerry's Place, Front Porch, Search for fossils at Calvert Cliffs State Park Kayaking is great, sailing is great, motor boating/fishing is great. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g41382-Activities-Solomons_Calvert_County_Maryland.html https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g41332-d1927872-Reviews-Jerry_s_Place-Prince_Frederick_Calvert_County_Maryland.html https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g41244-d552389-Reviews-Calvert_Cliffs_State_Park-Lusby_Calvert_County_Maryland.html https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g41382-d6415091-Reviews-Lighthouse_Restaurant_and_Dock_Bar-Solomons_Calvert_County_Maryland.html

  19. l lived in Ashburn, Virginia for many years, and those DC Fourth of July fireworks were GREAT!!! I cannot remember what year it was, but one time I was flying into Regan National Airport right when the fireworks were going off, that was crazy cool seeing them up close and personal. (We don't live in Virginia anymore, but cool cool that so many of you still live in the metro DC area.)
  20. lol Good idea OK now what you going to do? She just saw this post you made...
  21. Heck toss in photos of burley Scottish men with those hairy muscly legs wearing those fine tartan skirts and I am in... (disclaimer, my husband has Scottish Armstrong blood - and American Indian Cherokee blood, no wonder I married him.) Hello...
  22. Here is my take on this. He was a scumbag, karma did it's job. About that condo that collapsed, so far my take on that is that the HOA found out about the issues and kept postponing recommended repairs to 1. prevent astronomic condo fee increases and 2. no inconvenience themselves and the condo owners of the mess, noise and disruption. ERGO, is the HOA liable? Maybe. Either way, horrible tragedy, but looks like it could have been prevented/postponed. Look. Nothing lasts forever, dams, bridges, buildings sooner or later "break". We humans are smart enough to make these things, but then dumb enough to prevent disasters from those made things, from time to time. We need wise regulations and follow up laws that make sense. And so on and so forth. Gosh, here I am typing this when I could be in a map shooting at you idiots...
