God I pay over $80 a month now for evertek.net and cant even get 1 meg down. Dave Harden when you read this I hope you know you are 1 stupid bastard.

Maybe some day if you can actually provide internet I pay for you will be promoted to sub-par idiot.

(Basically that means you can wipe the ass of someone that knows about networking) and no that is not the asses you are wiping now.

I already have Comcast Cables Triple Play but I do not know the breakdown to say how much of the total bill is for cable. I may just call them to see how much additional I would be paying to upgrade to 105.

Download speed Chicago from Philly:

Last Result:
Download Speed: 27738 kbps (3467.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 6334 kbps (791.8 KB/sec transfer rate)

Using Speakeasy:

So lets see if I can get the math right here. Hmm carry the 1 subtract the 4.5 ah yes here's the answer. So all that means now is that you can get through your 250 gig cap @ comcast in  19 504.7619 seconds or 325.079365 minutes

250 gigabytes divided by 105 megabits (a second) = 19 504.7619 seconds . And I'll bet you any money they will still packet sniff your ass off.

What would be the point in having a internet connection that fast with a 250GB download cap?

Ok , I am a lineman at Comcast, most users do not even come close to the 250GB cap, most ISP's have bandwith caps, you just dont hear about them, most ISP's monitor ports, mainly Peer to Peer, they want to make sure your not using most of the bandwith downloading illegal movies and music. In my house I have 3 XBOX's , 2 for my kids, 1 for me. Also, we have at least 3 PC's in the house,  all mostly being used for gaming. My son is constantly downloading patches and things for his Warcraft, and Im always downloading game maps from our servers. One month I got to 185GB with heavy usage.

Shamu, you really wouldn't gain anything upgrading to that tier, is over kill for users like us. Better for alot of data transfer users, not really for gamers per say.

Quote " most ISP's monitor ports, mainly Peer to Peer, they want to make sure your not using most of the bandwith downloading illegal movies and music " If thats the answer that the ISP are going with , that they have to help eliminate the illeage activities of online users then they should also be held responsible for any terrorist chatter that happens over there network ! I pay them for bandwidth wiether it be 60 gig a month or unlimited I do not pay them to monitor my usage. All they are trying to do is make it harder to get what you want and force the user to use there pay per services.

Speaking of illegal activities..............

For most my business trips I stay in Holiday Inn properties. Of late the download speeds have been horrendous. .3 - .4 Mbps. And they have the audacity to advertise "High Speed Internet Available"  Needless to say this does not help in gaming and downloading maps.

I placed a complaint with HI and was told that many hotels have governors in place to restrict download speed because guests are downloading movies and HI is concerned that Warner Bros may sue them based on activity from their IP's.

Do not know if that is a crock of crap or what but it is what I was told.

Bottom line, goodbye Holiday Inn, hello Choice Hotels whose speeds have been better.

And don't even get me started on how inconvenient it is to get to a person within HI who has some authority relative to the issue.
