I would say a memtest is in order to see if that is the problem.

But how often do you get it? It started about a week ago for me, about the time I started playing in here quite a bit. But it was usually whenever it started loading the map, it would just quit. Today it started doing it mid game, over and over again. I was playing with 3 others, all frozen, trying to get to them and all of a sudden it crashes. Now that sucks, and very annoying since that was already the 4th crash during that one game. I've tried everything I could find to fix it and it just keeps getting worse.

It's a sound error, there are many possible fixes, to numerous to list them all, could try googling it, the one that usually works for me is to update my sound drivers, but sometimes i have to reinstall cod4 and then update new sound drivers to the game.Undecided

That screenshot looks like windows 2000 or NT.  Certainly not the curves of XP upwards!!!  What OS is she running.  If I'm correct, I certainly would get a MODERN OS.

I've reinstalled the game twice, updated the sound drivers twice, renamed the file inside the miles folder about three different ways and always have a set of headphones on. I'm guessing it's because I use Vista on this machine, at least that's what I keep telling myself. Hopefully next week when I get the new computer put together it should take care of it with windows 7. The MOBO should be here Thursday, so hopefully get it all together over the weekend. Then this one will be a dedicated Linux machine. I HATE VISTA!!!

You have check the Control panel -> Sound ?

When I update the Realtek drivers(! plus HDMI ATi driver for ATi/AMD cards) I have to go there and set my input/output to my device. Plus I always change in properties to set to "16bits, 44100Hz (CD quality)".

I finally got mine fixed by running registry mechanic. I had mic and headphones plugged in, reloaded game a couple times, renaming files, yada yada. Nothing worked. Finally came across someone that mentioned running that registry mechanic and I have only had it happen once since then. Ran the program again and it has been fine since.
