I've got a 64G Crucial REALSSD and it's freaking amazing. I use Bench 32 for testing drives. mine probably takes about 6 seconds to load from the MOBO screen, but I am also running a stripped down version of WIN7 and running at 4.5Ghz :)  and hooked up to 6gig SATA. I have yet to see the full windows flag during startup. If you want a fast "storage" drive. I have a WD Caviar Black FAEX and it is super fast for a platter drive.

I just upgraded my 64gb G.Skill Flacon up to a 128gb Crucial M4.  It's the highest scoring device on Windows Experience Index.  The Falcon is going back into my netbook.

If you have a laptop and want to extend battery life and improve performance, slap an SSD into that bad boy.  YOu will not be disappointed.  Ever.

My Vertex 120GB (indilinx-based) is pretty much like your Falcon HICKEYdog...I might do like you do, and put it in a laptop and install a Crucial...it's only a project....maybe later...

Got the switch done.  And ironically, the SSD is the highest rated device in Windows Experience Index in both systems.

I'm running

cpu AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition 3.2ghz

Mobo Asus Sabertooth 990FX AM3+

Memory 16gb G.SKILL Ripjaws X DDR3 1866

Video card MSI R6950 Twin Frozr III 2gb

HDDs 1 Intel 510 SSD sata 3 120gb and 1 2TB Western Digital

Power Supply Thermaltake TR2 TRX-1000M 1,000 watt

Windows index scores

7.6

7.6

7.7

7.7

7.8

Windows load times are 6 seconds with Norton internet security 2011

Without the SSD and Norton loaded up the load times were 30 seconds or more.

This is my second SSD drive the old one I sold was an Intel 320 series 120gb Sata 2.The sata 3 SSDs are quite a bit faster than the Sata 2s.

I use Intels SSD utility to maintain the SSD.It seems to work really good.

I would wait till next spring to get one of the new 600 gig sata 3 SSD drives.

They are currently over $1000 but by spring time they should be down to less than 1/2 of that.

Look at this crap WOW 960gb PCIE SSD HDD Only $2900 US

And they're out of stock.
