Rat seems to be tolerating the CI's that we get with our current one but I got my paycheck so I'm taking matters into my own hands lol Basically looking for a quality wireless router (wired would be alright too, but our wireless AP has gone to shit along with our router, may as well replace both with one device) that's reliable and preferably supports QoS so the family isn't stomping all over my bandwidth while I'm trying to kill stuff or stream vids from Youtube etc, lmao Price isn't a huge concern, but I won't be affording any enterprise-grade Cisco hardware lol For reference, I was looking at this D-Link product since there are some pretty sweet savings on it: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833127243 Just a bit wary of that one as the reviews seem to be all over the place (some are downright whiners, but a few appear to be legit) - lots complain of firmware issues that may or may not be solved by updating to the latest firmware, others complain of having to downgrade to avoid problems. So if any of you Idiots have experience with that D-Link router or have one that you really like, please share

Could be a hit and miss as far as quality but I have two D-Links (wireless) with one acting as a wireless access point. I also have a linksys I keep for a backup but all in all, I personally go with either a D-Link or Linksys. The model of course will be dictated by what your needs are or options you want. Awards

Read some reviews and you will know That's what I use and it works excellently Its in New Egg for $135 Runs all my wireless N stuff, and I have my gaming rig hard wired into it with 1Gb connection which fully utilizes the 16Mb connection I have. Hard wired is the way to go. I have never heard of much success with wireless gaming although I only know of a couple of people who have tried it Awards

Been talking to Rat and I think the E4200 will be the choice here. Looks like we'll be switching ISPs shortly too, so hopefully lag will no longer be an issue. lmao

I bought the D link GSL 4500 Gaming Router 15 months ago, unfortunately it crapped out on me as of last week. Up to that tiime i thought it was a pretty good router. Its a nice feature that you can designate acertain amount of bandwidth to a device. You are correct that the firmare is difficult to navigate. I was not impressed that it crapped out only 15 months after purchase and of course it only had a one year warranty. For its replacement, i was recommended the Asus N56U Dual Wireless Router. After a week or so of use i found it to be a better product. Stronger signal, faster and quick login into the gaming servers (the D Link took forever) all the same capabilites as the 4500... and a 2 year warranty... Here is the link from the site... Good luck, if u have any more questions Mouse... PM me.. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833320062&cm_sp=Pers_ProductSimilar-_-33-320-062_2_AG-_-33-127-243 Awards

We've always had Linksys so far, may as well keep on with 'em especially with Cisco involved. I dunno about that Asus router Pete - from the photo it looks like Rat would go blind just from sitting next to the thing! Hmm... maybe that'd be a nice advantage for the rest of us. lmao Thanks for the input everyone.
