I figured it would be nice to have a place to make comments about the new beta.

 

Here are a few of my impressions after playing it for awhile:

 

1) the New SPA-12 shotgun is awesome.

2) the increased damage levels for all weapons renders Stopping Power perk useless. It also makes it a lot more difficult to play a run and gun game style because you die a lot faster and can't take damage like you used to.

3) Sniping will be very difficult with the slow recovery from breathing. Plus, I generally don't like the whole holding your breath thing anyway.

4) You can't blow up a car, but a helo is downed very easily. One car can thaw 3-4 people easy.

 

All in all, I really like the mod and think it's very playable and a good time. I don't mind the increased damage on the weapons; it just means I need to adjust my playing style for the new mod a bit.

Agree with the 'Stopping power' perk, tried it too and it’s useless on this mod.

 

About the Car, I did efforts to not be killed and to have the heli but it was down in less than 2 secondes... In another way, I could defrozed easily 4-5 teammates on spawn with the car, without be killed by a nade or bullets, pretty unbalanced. Car is ok but choppers need more life, especially cause it's not so easy to have 9 kills in a row with the hardcore mod.

 

Snip is difficult yeah, you don't have to miss the first shot. The guy who's far away can kill you with an xtreme facility if he knows where the first bullet comes from. But the difficulty makes sniper's coool eheh :-)

Yea heli health can be increased to whatever is best for the server. Just takes trial and error with the server settings to see what fits best. I agree stopping power isnt very useful in hard core mods if juggy isnt available. But it does still help alot against vehicles and players with body armor. The two schools of thought is that it needs a counter, which what juggy is for. Or simply to remove both anyways freeing the perks for other things.

 

However been considering something along the lines of the ballistic vest bag as a streak option. In which case stopping power would be useful again. But its a question of if there is room, entity limitations, how difficult it will be to code it and certainly how it would affect gameplay.

 

You will be able to disable the RC with an EMP nade. Same range as a flashbang. I dont remember if its already in the beta the server has. So if you are close enough to one defrosting a player you will have a good chance of stopping it right there quickly. The RC being able to bring a team back from the brink makes for very interesting games. Also changes the complexity of how to go after the last remaining players. IMHO before it was too easy and just prolonged the inevitible. ;%29.gif

Mod is great,.

 

Killstreaks disapear when you die, thats no fun when you save the airstrike or RC.

Defrost way too fast so the snatch and grap perk is not as effective, same with stoping power perk.

 

Please remove the exploding tip on the crossbow and add more then 2 normal arrows.

If you want boom boom you can use chinalake.

An other thing Sammy..You cant see frozen team m8s in mini maps..everybody look alive no icon to indicate they are frozen..

 

YES brother the HIT box are way too much all you got to is spray around a person and is over..could use some toning down..Due to this.. the sway of the sniping works totally against you..NO TIME to scope some 1 when all they got to do is spray your way from across the map mind you..Because of the hit box the china lake becomes a very dangerous weapon in a small maps..throw 1 into other side take out the whole team..

Helis do take too long to show up with packages..If you choose a red dot laser attachment.First perk is gone..CANT pick picked.

 

Besides that Sammy ..A hell of a JOB on the mod. :unworthy: .Thxs for all the hard work by your part so US idiots can run around like hippies picking flowers at Wood stock..LMAO..

i LOVE the crossbow....except i love it more the first time we saw it, without the delay in explosion. Perhaps a choice for both...exploding tips and non exploding tips. You could put the non exploding as a weapon choice in sniper class or something to that effect, or perk one, two options, or if you take exploding tips, you dont get an extra nade, ah dunno...you guys are the smart ones here.

 

The only other thing i always gripe about is ditch the flashbang and bring back a REAL stun grenade. The visual is always better and the desired effect is a little better as well.

 

BIG UPS to you SAmmy for doing all this for a bunch of crying ass malcontents...i dont know if i could stomach hearing MY complaints....come to think of it...i cant....

 

 

 

 

BTW.... maybe a good killstreak perk I thought of...." no muzzle flash or tracer rounds for killstreak of....(insert number here)". Gives you a stealth angle as far as visual orientation is concerned after a couple rounds fire.....sneaky ninja style if you already gots a silencer and dead silence.....

I can't hit nowt with the crossbow now, has the range been lessened, played arena map today and it didn't seem to reach across the map, they were falling well short.

Yup crossbow was matched to the same specs as the MP version in BO. Range, damage, gravity and all of that. The only thing it doesnt do yet is stick to players. Havent had time on that yet. If the SP version with regular bolts is desired the best thing to do is talk to Rugger about what everyone wants to do and I can include whichever one is preferred. But personally an arrow should not travel the same distance and speed as a sniper round. :hrhr:

 

For some of the other issues I will get the next update ready as soon as I can and will see if they are all ok. For defrosting, yes tree trunks and other solid objects will block. Success or failure uses the same virtual traces as others do and is not based on visuals. The rule of thumb is that if you can shoot him (not counting armor piercing) you can defrost him. The other method of 'visual' tracing is used for things like helicopter target recognition etc and has percentages about how much of the entity it can actually see.

some defrosts hard but generally ok. Sob it s a time delayed exploding crossbow. u dont headshot ppl from 150yds. emp nade for car fine by me. does that mean the car user is just stuck as a car for a while. of course u can still run n gun on hardcore. hopefully for u means less bunny hopping away from danger. u get shot u die.

If you disable the car by EMP... or by ambient EMP... the owner is detached and returns to his previous position. The car remains and is dead except for a 20 second timer. When the timer expires it will explode. So, if you disable it you should either stay away for a short time or shoot it from a safe distance. However when it blows up (either by timer or shooting) the owner still gets credit for any kills. No different than shooting a clay. The goal was to keep its abilities but a little easier to counter it if the player chooses the loadout option to do it. Its all about choices.

looks good but for some reason the nervgas airstrike killstreak needs to be a tad stronger and last a tad long seems to vanish to fast to be of any use.

Actually the nervegas airstrike has been taken out. After asking around it was hardly ever used, in this server and others. So in its place added a explosive decoy. In all respects it's a normal care package drop to the enemy. Friendlies see a skull head icon. When the enemy tries to capture it a 0.75 sec timer beeps and it then explodes. Requirement 4 kills.

 

Bomb squad players do not see warning icons since the package is not dangerous except for capture attempts, unlike betties with their triggers or c4 with players waiting for you to walk by. But those players should receive some benefit so they get a 2 second timer. Plenty of time for alert players to get away.
