Control panel, Sound, Recording, Right click, See disabled drivers, Enable the one that shows up

or

Control panel, Sounds, enable stereo mix

or

Program files-Activision-COD4 folder- miles(in this folder u will find mssmp3.asi, right click, then rename

it mssmp3.bak) now right click shortcut and run as administrator

yea that should fix most im3mp.exe error, but not all.

seems like the devs didnt care about it, but they should have patch this :/

ive tried everything and still get the error. so you may just have to put up with it.

Try plugging in your headphones.......that did it for me when I was getting that. It is related to sound. I didn't try what Monk put above, but that is sound related also.....so might work.

try loading your game from the MODS option instead of the NEW GAME option at top of screen. works for me...

Only thing that works for me is to uninstall game, then update sound drivers, then install game back to the new drivers....can we have this in a sticky it seems like it's every other day we are answering this question.

i get this error when i hit TAB while a map is loading. thats funny because i do that alot for no reason :D

I recommend just deleting all the .exe files, works best for me.
