If you have only just installed cod4 then you will need to apply the updates upto 1.7 in order to play on any server. I got to go to work, though I'm sure someone will point you in the right direction. Also you must apply the updates in the correct order. I think they consolidated them for 1.7. Look at the bottom right (?) corner when you open CoD4. It should show you the version. Try to install 1.7 and if it says something like version 1.6.7 need, you'll have to d/l that first then apply 1.7. Easy enuff but very irritating.
