USE A GROUNDING STRAP OR TOUCH METAL B4 TOUCHING ANY HARDWARE

READ the MB MANUAL cover to back

1) get all CURRENT updates (sound, chipset, video) for your new MB burn to a disk also check the bios is current and if need an update do it in DOS boot only not a window

2) get the info for your RAM (timings) for setting up in cmos after all hardware/firmware updated

3) you didn't say if cpu was mounted already if not get good thermal paste and check all clearances b4 applying paste Note some heatsinks come with a thin film to protect while shipping REMOVE it if have

what operating system are you going to use? if Windows 7, driver will install themselves for everything except video card.

oh, and I hope you luck out better than I did on the Mobo. Mine said it was USB 3.0 and the case case I got has the plugs in the front for it, but when I got it in, the mobo spot did not have a socket for plugging up the case ports, and the mobo only has 2 USB 3.0 ports on the back of it. so I only have 2.0 availible on the front of the case.

G.SKILL Value Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Desktop Memory Model F3-10600CL9D-8GBNT

Did you grab a vacuum pot for it?...with to high a lift you will have no brakes.....as for the memory timings you may be able to play with them a bit and tighten them up...gains a bit of performance

The 970 chipset is a little finicky when it comes to 4gb sticks.

If it blue screens with the memory set at 1333mhz at 9-9-9-24 you are going to have to re-seat your cpu.Don't know what it is with the 970 chipset but many people had the same problems.Mine did this with 4x4gb Gskill RipJaws X DDR3 1600 and after reseating the cpu Twice it took my timings and has been working flawless.

I had a AMD Phenom 2 X4 965 3.4ghz OCed to 4.3ghz water cooled in it for a few months and upgraded to one of the AMD FX-8120 8 core cpus OCed to a modest 3.8ghz water cooled with a Corsiar H60 water cooler. The temps stay around 38-42 running 4 instances of prime95+.

I'm not a big fan of the new Unified bios but it seems to do the job.
