using the right driver for your OS ,,,32 or 64 bit ?

I didn't  remove any sound devices from any ports  and used the  Executable file

it reboots twice, first removes OLD driver then again install new driver ... you have sound

I never update my Realtek drivers unless the IWMP3.EXE eror gets so bad that i have no choice, of course by doing that it would cause me to uninstall my COD4 first then reinstall back to the new drivers or i would not be able to get into the game at all.....fucking realtek :realmad:

I've never had to re-install any games for any driver updates to my system under w7/64 OS

Note : save your profile before un-install game

also I've left  head phones plugged in and use SPDIF for my sound , I only SOFTWARE switch by windows in SPEAKER ICON in task bar

I don't even need it anymore.

I have a very cheep MS LX-3000 USB Headset and I can disable sound on my motherboard via BIOS.

Only thing that I check at Realtek is the LAN (8111) driver, but still careful with updating it.

We have had so many posts about the IWMP3.EXE error m8, i know about all the possible fixes by heart now, and those fixes you posted do not work for me and probably do not work for many others, in fact i know from talking to people in the server that they don't, the only thing that cures the problem for me is to uninstall game then update sound drivers then reinstall game back to new drivers, that is why i try very hard not to update my sound drivers ever, gonna get a new sound card soon anyway, the amount off cash i parted with for this PC  and all i got was this shitty onboard realtek soundcard.

most issues  are when anything installed on  computer  is  UAC (User_Account_Control)  not being used

this why things aren't installed correctly

when install game use windows explorer go to optical drive and to the set-up.exe .....right click it then select RUN as ADMIN and every patch that you do after

iwd files are certificated in data corruption.......so leave it at this point

I'm not a fan of onboard audio either. My soundblaster live wasn't supported by Win7, so I re-enabled the AC97 and installed the latest available driver from realtek. Works OK, but no matter what I do my microphone is too quiet. According to the computer forums, I'm not the only one w/this issue. The only game currently installed is COD2, we'll see if WAW & COD4 act the same (suspect they will).

not using Skype on this box. Control\sound\communications\do nothing checked. Tried all the crap everyone else has. Same result Mic volume too low. Seeing as there are thousands of complaints on the internet, including MS own site, I would say there's an issue within Windows.

XP & Linux have no problems with the same hardware. Not impressed with RealTek or their digital signature.
