Currently germany is sinking.
It's a bigger flood disaster as August 2002

The worst affected areas at the moment are Saxony (Leipzig, Dresden, Gera and their counties..) and Bavaria (Passau or the Deggendorf district...)
have the highest ermegency alert level active. Some villages in the District of Deggendorf are completed flooded and single-family homes
stand up to the roof in the water.

Citizens and civil protection in the areas along the river "Elbe" are preparing to fight the flood with sandbags and sheet piling.
They expect the flood for Friday or Saturday. There are more than 50.000 voluntary helpers and soldiers out there at the moment

volunteer Fire Departments
technical Relief
citizens from all over Germany helping to fight against the water or to clean up areas and houses where the water is gone.

I had to leave my appartment too, now im at my parents home.

Today was the Day with the highest waterlevel, They say that it might takes 4 days till all the water is gone.

Damn poo! I only lived a few days in the new appartment and now this poo. But the good thing is that i live high enough so everything should be dry.

I am very glad that our region is not affected. We have the river "Main" nearby. It has a higher water level a usual but only two or three meters. The footpaths down there are flooded. That's all.

Thank god!

The flood is caused by continuous rain with up to 100 liter per square meter within 24 hours in Poland, Czech Republic and Germany. (Up to 180 liter in the Alps)

I hope everything is ok at home and you can live in your apartment furthermore or at least go back to collect all your stuff and personal things.

Flood damage is a bitch, speaking from experience. While the State might help in recovery I am sure they will no where meet the needs of the people. Sometimes it's just a hard cruel world.
