it really looks like a living animal-squirrel-//perhaps NASA brought the animal there as an experiment?or could  this all be a hoax-perhaps the mission failed and they take pics of our desert so as to not lose the funding and oops a squirrel got in the photo?possibly the next conspiracy -what do you think

It's a rock, nothing more or less.

I've probably picked up a billion rocks in my lifetime while collecting indian artifacts. Lighting, shadows and your brain can make you see all kinds of amazing things that aren't really there.

So the dude is inspecting and referencing a single photo where it may appear that a squirrel is on Mars.  I think this can be dispelled in one point:  #1 Don't make a final judgement based on ONE picture.  We've all seen the optical illusion photos on the internet.  The very angle of the picture made our mind see it a different way.  In this case it's MOST likely that it ("the squirrel") is a rock that looks like a squirrel at that angle in that lighting at that poor of a resolution (if you magnified the image as the commentator in the video did).  I would like to see the "squirrel" from multiple angles.  And you'd think (at least a logical person would) that the "squirrel" would leave tracks.  I didn't see any of that, only an idiot in a video that jumped to conclusions without any conclusive evidence.

Even if a person believes in evolution, why would they think that life would evolve the same on Mars as on Earth?

It could be a squirrel - there's lot of trees on Mars after all despite the hostile climate.

Or, no, wait. That's Alaska. Alaska's got lots of trees.

I think it's a rock. Although, there are a significant number of Mars pictures that kind of make me think.

If you saw my office, you would realize I may not be far off. I have about 50,000 individual artifacts in my collection, and for every one I've kept, I probably picked up and discarded a few hundred other pieces. Yes, I'm obsessed. :stuart:

i envy you LOM...i love doing that type of exploring as well...beside my area there is a huge limestone cliff with thousands of trilobite type fossils...i've got one on my table that resembles a fish...bones and all...still in the rock...you can literally just go and pick them up...i'm surprised more archeolgists haven't been there more...i always manage to got there in the summer months with my neices and nephews and some of them have taken them to school for show and tell...good obsession though LOM...keeps the mind active and who knows maybe someday you can get rich,,,finding valuable artifacts from era's gone by

Thanks Johnny. I consider myself very lucky to be able to make a good living doing what I love. I don't get out and hunt much any more, just enjoy dealing with the beautiful artifacts that I have and teaching others about them.

Sounds like you have a great spot there. Most archaeologists have more places to dig than they have time to dig them.

Ok its time for Leadfinger to weigh in on this "Martian Squirrel" hallucination.

First off I have a degree in StraightupBullshit and have studied the picture from Mars the man claims has a squirrel in it and here are my findings:

If you blow up the pic really big and use a program like Windows Paint to enhance the pixalation and make a series of lines and smudges it becomes clear that it is  between 15 and 18 Native American Indians on horseback chasing a large Bison (notice the the dust rising from the hoofs) (If you cant see it you didn't smudge enough) These Native American hunters are ultimately successful in their hunt (I have the sequel on DVD).

This is a classic example of how your imagination can create something and if you have not been sleeping good  . . .well you get the Idea . .lmao

I need to get some sleep . . . .  .

Sounds like you have a great spot there. Most archaeologists have more places to dig than they have time to dig them.

There are numerous locations here in Montana that we have found Arrowheads and scrapers for skinning animals while out hiking or fishing. I admit I find myself looking for artifacts more than before. It seems like the more you find the more you want to look.

On a flight from Billings to Salt Lake City I sat next to a man that was working on documenting a recent dinosaur discovery. He was kind enough to answer my my kids (10 and 12 yr olds) questions and when we landed  he asked for our address and sent us a fossil of a dinosaur bone needless to say I was "stoked" . .oh and the kids were excited too . . lol

I would like to check out your collection LOM  . . fascinating stuff

Hey, I was only trying to use a fool's logic to prove the improbability of a squirrel "evolving" on Mars just as it would on Earth.

u got it wrong -evolve on mars no.

the probability that NASA's experiment was to take animals such as a squirrel  -and put them in a state of hibernation -then to release them on a foreign planet and observe them for the sake of some insane  scientific hypothesis or experiment....
