Go to game settings, sound... make sure it's set to windows default.

Using headset? Which one? Phone jack, usb, wireless.?

I have this problem with my sound and mic...I usually exit game, stop corsair sound program and restart it, reconnect headset, start game and it's working again.

Not had this before. My game randomly crashes and likes to minimise (Windows 7 likes to do that a lot) but never any sound not playing

Have you tried cleaning the wax in your ears? Qtips do a decent job too, wet them in hot water and then slowly glide back and forth.

On another note, make sure your COD4 sound is not disabled or turned down in Windows Mixer. Also, check if the Audio Output in COD4 is set to Windows Default.

If you play with Wildthing, you will wish for it to be muted. :)
