Hello friends,

I am looking at buying a new desktop pc for my gaming pleasure. I have looked at many options and think I have found a reasonable match for "bang for the buck".

Please take a second to check it out and respond with any comments or free advice.

I did a lot of research on the build I just completed and posted - only suggestion is go for the 970 video card if you can afford it - it's the sweet spot on price vs performance for the 960, 970, and 980.

If you bought all the same components on newegg.com and assembled the system yourself it'd be $950 instead of $1200. Just need to add an operating system.

Looks okay to me, but as @@KaptCrunch said, the cpu is a bit old.. I would put some more money into the GPU, as of most games does not have that much of a punch cpu wise.. I think a 970 is worh it, even with the mem issue..

Thanks everyone for your input. I will see what I can find to build one myself. I have a copy of Windows 7, is this the OS that is most gamer friendly?

I put together another list of goodies on Amazon. This build is more expensive but I included an SSD and liquid cooling. Not sure if everything is compatible but it looks good on paper.

Your RAM choice is not compatible with your motherboard. Your motherboard uses DDR4 and your RAM choice is DDR3. You have to chose a DDR4 set of RAM. Everything else looks good though.

Good catch. Yeah you don't need a 10,000 RPM hard drive. $95 for 150GB is a ripoff. Just get a 1TB 7200RPM hard drive.

Both of these are good HDD.

Pain you may want to look at monitors to, because no matter how powerful your video card is if the monitor is medioaker it wont give you the potential of the card. I bought a BenQ 27" 144mhz, 1ms GTG,2k resolution cost on sale $599., but you can get a 24' BenQ for around $400 or less.
