Great car. My buddy in highschool had a 1982 model and we fit 13 people in that car. 2 in the trunk.

22R or 22RE with 4 small weber carbs or a large 2 barrel and custom intake manifold would be awesome in that.

Those are awesome little cars. Not many around in the US anymore that are not rusted in 1/2.Especially here near the east coast.

I'm in love. Rice burner CLASSIC!! I had a Datsun 82' hatch with a small 4 barrel on it. 5 speed manual. Would hit 90 in 4th gear with a lot more to give. It's amazing what a well built 1500 will put out. I don't have an actual pic of it but had this stock paint job but Chrome mid 90's 5 stars glass pack exhaust.57de2129440c9_1982Datsun210Hatchback3.jp

I had the 72'  Corolla model with the same motor I think? Long time ago, but the muffler system sucked (Power loss).  One day it gave me so much greif, I went and replace it from the Header output to the tail end with a 1" straight peice of tubular steel pipe!

Suprise Suprise! Without all the garbage in between it sounded better, and actual had a bit of a power  boost to!

BTW, first chance if you get it put a solid state ignition in it, rip out the old Dist.Cap  system too?

It was a bastard if you got it wet back then by going through deep  puddles! ha ha ha...( I had a propane torch ready in the trunk all the time)

OOPs,  just re-read, you found out about the crappy ignition  system already I see?    ha ha ha....

I had a 78 SR5 pickup with the 20R motor. You can them to spin pretty fast when built up right. All my friends said if they ever died in any car it would have been that truck. Really really quick. Geared low though so top end wasn't really high
