All clocks in Pulp Fiction are set to 4:20.

Some people state that there are two scenes where the clocks are not set to this. Watch the movie to figure out which scenes they were.

The eye of an ostrich is bigger than its brain.

Its eyes are around the size of a billiard ball. One eye is also smaller than the other. Perhaps this is why they tend to run in circles.

A dime has 118 ridges on its edge.

The ridges allow the coin to determine if it is real or fake. This was implemented on all coins before the 18th century. The ridges also make it harder to make counterfeit coins.

On average, a secretary will use its left hand for 56% of what they type on a keyboard.

This is because most of the most common letters in the English language are on the left side of the keyboard. The right side of the keyboard only contains i and n as the most common letters.

Some animals can indeed produce offspring without mating. This fascinating phenomenon is known as parthenogenesis, which translates to “virgin birth” in Greek. Let me explain how it works:

Process Overview:

In sexual reproduction, an egg cell and a sperm cell combine to create a new organism, each contributing half of the genetic information.

In parthenogenesis, the body finds a unique way to compensate for the lack of male genetic contribution.

Types of Parthenogenesis:

Automixis: In this version of parthenogenesis, an animal merges a polar body (a byproduct of egg production) with an egg. This process slightly shuffles the mother’s genes, resulting in offspring that are similar to the mother but not exact clones. Some sharks exhibit automixis.

Apomixis: In apomixis, reproductive cells replicate via mitosis, creating two diploid cells (genetically identical). These offspring are true clones of their parent. Apomixis is more common in plants.

Examples:

Zebra Shark: Leonie, a zebra shark at Australia’s Reef HQ Aquarium, stunned her keepers in 2016 when three of her eggs hatched into living pups.

Reticulated Python: Thelma, a python at Louisville Zoo, laid six eggs that developed into healthy young snakes without ever encountering a male python.

Komodo Dragon: Flora, a Komodo dragon at England’s Chester Zoo, achieved a similar feat, puzzling her keepers.

Genetic Details:

Ovaries produce eggs through a process called meiosis, resulting in haploid cells (containing half the mother’s chromosomes).

Parthenogenesis allows animals to create offspring by creatively utilizing these haploid cells, either through automixis or apomixis.

In summary, while most animals require mating for reproduction, parthenogenesis provides a remarkable alternative for a select few species, allowing them to have “virgin births” without male involvement

The first basketballs were not produced until 1894. This means that for three years upon the invention of the game, people were using non-regulated balls.

A candle’s flame is hot and blue in zero gravity.

Diffusion feeds the flame with oxygen. This then allows carbon dioxide to move away from the point of combustion.

Putting sugar on a cut will make it heal faster.

Pour some sugar on top of the wound and wrap it with a bandage. The granules of the sugar crystals will absorb any moisture that bacteria thrive on.

X-rays can’t detect real diamonds.

The reason for this is because the x-ray cannot penetrate or identify the materials in the diamond.

There are 7 different types of twins.

Apart from the well known identical and fraternal types of twins, there are 5 more. These include half-identical, mirror image, mixed, chromosome, and superfecundation, and superfetation.

Sign language has tongue twisters.

They are called finger fumblers. Many who have practiced sign language over the years still fumble over certain sequences in ASL.

When forming a burger for the grill, aim for a ¾" to 1" thickness and a 3" to 4" diameter. The burgers will shrink slightly as they cook, so you want the raw patties to skew a little larger than the buns onto which they'll eventually land. so say 3.5 inches

The equatorial circumference of Earth is 24,901 miles (40,075 km). However, from the North Pole to the South Pole, the so-called meridional circumference is smaller, at 24,860 miles (40,008 km).

inches in a mile 63360 so divide 3.5 = 18,102.85714285714 round out 18,102.86 in a mile now times 24,901 = 450,779,245.7142857 roundout   is 450,779,245.71 burgers arournd the world so times 32 = 14,424,935,862.72 burgers have been eaten in a year  TBB let the math speak
