  1. COD4x Server Address 74.91.119.86:28960 I want to thank everyone for their patience in playing on the CoD4x server and suffering thru the crashes and reboots. I care deeply about our clan and everyone I play with, hence, my motivation to dedicate my time and put in the effort to make this happen. Retrospect When we first launched the CoD4x server it was on a managed NFO server, meaning all the server controls are with NFO, just put the mod files in there. The server was crashing due to fundamental changes in how the CoD4x code is re-written and how our mod handles player data. We had no way of figuring out what was wrong since we had no control over the server's internal behavior. I decided to launch the CoD4x server on a dedicated machine where I had absolute control over the server process. I recompiled the CoD4x server code and launch binary after binary. Each iteration informed by the logs collected when the server crashed. On the Linux machine I was able to capture the exact behavior of the server and put guard rails against crashing, but didn't address the root-cause. Until now. I have strong confidence in the latest deployment that I have addressed the root-cause of the crashes. A bug in memory handling that becomes bigger and bigger as people join and leave the server. When a map changes it causes corruption and crashes the server. It took all of this to get to the bottom of this problem. The work arounds I put in, would delay the inevitable and one of the work arounds had a sever-side side effect. People with lossy connections @Icequeen@Dukoo @P1nh3ad or well high ping, would experience stuttering, this was real, caused by the bug, but made worse by the work around I put in to keep the server from crashing right away. I am confident that you will not experience this anymore. If you know programming, I had to patch the disassembly of the stock COD4 server and recompile the CoD4x server code. Our mod does a double free of player data. This happens on the stock server too but the stock server is single threaded so while it never crashes it starts becoming laggy the longer it stays on. We change rotations every Friday so a server restart would clean the slate. The CoD4x server launches multiple threads, and does things in parallel, when the mod's code would try to delete player data upon disconnect, it would do that more than once in CoD4x, this would poison the memory heap. The only solution was to block the call in the server code. CoD4x automatically deletes all the pertinent player data on disconnect, the mod doesn't need to send that command in the script. This is in essence a two-part fix, put a check in the server code to don't let the memory get poisoned then remove all the player data delete from the mod's scripts/code. At the moment, I don't have the mod's source code so I did the only and the best thing I could. I hope the server's clock-work like crashes are behind us and all my hard work and sleeplessness has paid off. There will still be small things here and there but we will address them as we go. Thank you for reading and happy gaming.

  2. I got this Vicious Little Attack Dog. Maggie 4 years old 1/2 Pug 1/2 Jack Russell terrier JUG. 100% rotten to the core and she seems to have Unlimited energy. lol She was Supposed to be moms dog, but we kinda bonded rite away. Wub her so much. She's such a little sweetheart. She's super smart. I taught her all sorts of tricks and stuff. So far she knows Sit, Stay, shake paw, roll over, Bang play dead, fetch, Spin, Stay Down, out? Cookie? Bone? I gota watch saying Cookie or Bone around her because she knows exactly what they are and starts Begging and doing this cute little irresistible spin thing. She loves Three Dog bakery lick’n crunch cookies. She gets one a day if she is good. She does occasionally get into stuff. They say that if you have a Pug that you have to Constantly Pug Proof your house. She's really not that bad though.

  5. I've posted in the past our last dog, Rosie, a Westie, Shit-zu mix. She was a great dog that, at 12 years old got diabetes and went blind. Had to give her insulin twice a day and made it to 16 years old. She knew the house layout and got around okay and we still walked every day, when she could run and knew I wouldn't let her hit a mailbox or anything. After she passed, I didn't want another dog for a while, since I was also caring for my wife. But Wifey insisted on getting a lap buddy, since she was confined to the chair. Wife passed a year ago, but Ozzy, the new guy we got in 2023 has actually been a great find. We adopted him from a local Adopt-a-Center and is not only the lapdog she wanted, but also a good dog. We walk daily, as he is a Jack Russel, Chihuahua mix, so has a LOT of energy. His only issue is "little man syndrome". Want to attached only big dogs - a little nuts. Anyway, I call him "needy boy", since he must be with me at all times. Favorite place is between my hip and the arm of the chair. And he'll go ON the water, but not in it! But, we're working on that! 20241203_112516.mp4

  9. I may have experienced the biggest change in ping, from 30s to 130s since I moved between continents while the server only moved to Chicago. But I think comparing the new server to my gameplay from a year ago before I came to the US would give a better comparison. I'm playing on a laptop, and I always had to keep both the charging cable and the Ethernet cable connected, or else I would get constant CIs that made the game unplayable for me. With the new server, I tried playing using WiFi only, and I rarely get any CIs now. Unplugging the charging cable and the Ethernet cable still affects my gameplay, but on the old server I wouldn't even be able to move when doing that, and now I can play with only slight stuttering doing so. I already had CoD4x installed on my computer and had played on other CoD4x servers before, and I would still experience the same problem there, but not on the new server. While I was fully connected with the cables and only getting CIs once in a while, people on the old server would still often tell me that I was lagging and that bullets were going through me even though I wouldn't feel the lag on my end. Maybe some people could tell me if they still feel the same after I shoot them now. I'm not very knowledgeable about tech, and I'm sure many of you here could explain the effects of using these cables, but I wanted to share my experience to appreciate whatever changes @iboomboom made indeed improved the gameplay for me, and I trust everything else will continue to improve. I'm still jet-lagged after a trip that took about 24 hours with layovers, so I might be imagining all of this, and if so, please don't mind me and I'll update my experience later on.

    got some new wheels

In 1980 I bought a Honda CB-900F when I graduated high school. I would love to come across a nice used one. Or even the Honda CB-1100F from same era. Those were the beginning of the Crotch Rocket era. The 1979 CB-750F was a big leap forward in inline 4's . Gave Ducati's a run for the money in handling. When Kawasaki came out with the 1000ZXR Ninja in 1986 I was first in line. Had a red one. Then the wife and I started popping off kids and well... it had to go. In 1999 I bought a Suzuki GSXR750. But in 2004 I traded it for a Datsun/Nissan Z (Turbo). Too many crazy drivers taking out motorcycles. And I have had several Z's since then. Would love to get a Datsun 240Z body from overseas and plop a LS in it. But I do miss riding bikes !!!

  11. Wrong and duplicate names on scoreboard. Me and Crimson appear on both teams while Duffy doesn't appear at all in the enemy team. Meanwhile Dukoo appears as spectator in text chat but is displayed on the enemy team as playing. This is a known naming issue with cod4x which these guys have solved in their server: https://memebois.co/

  12. I use a crosshair on my monitor and also run the game directly from IW3mp.exe rather than through steam, even though it's a steam game. My pc is old and needs updating but runs the COD4x serrver very smooth

  15. Also i noticed a couple of players not being able to pick their classes and come in game with no gun and they cannot pick any classes, even after resetting their classes no succes, is there any known cure for this? I remember when we had this mod running YEARS ago we had similar issues with this, but i cannot remember how we has this problem fixed.

  16. So i also found out that after the lagging started i swapped a couple of times back to desktop with ALT+TAB and somehow going back and forward a couple of times sorted out the lagg issue going from left to right looking with the mouse caused less issues that way. The c4x mod is slightly more heavy weight. If somehow you already have issues make sure that all running programms in the right down corner are shut down, this reduces issues magnificently! I wanted to check out to see if running background programs could cause such issues and installed a very lightweight and simple animated custom crosshair the outer ring is constantly turning around making sure the process for it had to use some of my memory being able to keep spinning, also this magnificently increased the usage of memory during gameplay and caused instant stuttering looking from left too right, i wanted to proof that running background processes can harm your gameplay preformances and so it did. I am not a cod4 programmer but this might be something too look into seeing if any of these things could be inproved within the c4x area mod. It might be usefull somehow to look into. So far my findings Piece out.

  31. A few updates that are in test. - Flak jacket protective power is reduced my 10% - Tubes and RCXD explosive damage is reduced by 15% Known issues: - If you play the game thru steam and change your nickname it might not work the way you think. - To change your name /name MyNewName followed by /reconnect in your console - this works if you have the game installed via the disc
