It's called Electronic Stability Program (ESP). It protects the car by disabling extra power to the transmission when it detects wheel spin, thanks to the shitty bay area roads. I "reboot", as you put it, because basically I know I am not actually spinning or skidding all over the road. Plus my tires are spent, that makes a big difference in the ESP detecting an over spin. Once I have the new tires on, I will take you out on a drive over the Calaveras bend, you will how well planted the car is around 50 degree turns. Who the f is iboomboom and why is he so popular? When this is happens my RPM is limited to 2500. So when I get to a stop sign, I turn off the car and turn it back on and the system is cleared of the "hazardous" event detected. Hence the term reboot. This is the extreme circumstance normally the computer just applies braking to the right wheel so the car stays straight and doesn't spin out of control. It's a standard feature on Mercedes.
