It looks like Treyarch thinks that Black Ops in its release state was "creative"... http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/32786/Treyarch_Contrarian_Gamers_Are_Stunting_Creativity.php Awards

Haven't bought Black Ops yet and it doesn't look like I'm going to now. Treyarch will be hard-pressed to win my business back after that one... wtf is with the devs in these last two CoD titles? I'm starting to think it's Activision's (Cashtivision's?) influence that's fucking it all up. MW2 was an absolute mistake, even more so on my part for buying it.

Never saw such a huge shit-load when the game game out.... 8.4 millions copies sold in a month.. + christmas time after + january... They should prob ablie be at 20.000.000 copies sold by now.. If I would have opened my restaurant with the same amount of errors at opening time, I would have had a lot of intoxication, and be out of business and in jail for empoisining my guestes, but they are still making the money ....

"Too many developers who try new things are getting burned by 'pundits' and angry entitled fans who look to be contrarian, sometimes simply for the sake of being contrarian," said Olin. The new things are not the issue.. It's the old things that have been fucked up! "The only thing this attitude aims to achieve is stunt that creativity and innovation even further, which is something that no rational gamer looking to be entertained would want to do." No, what stunts creativity are corporations that put unreal deadlines on game developers in order to squeeze as much money out of a game franchise as possible. "I think the social culture of video games is moving in a more negative direction as technology and social media continues to grow," he noted. Bull Shit! How can you comment on growing technology when the game was developed for the X-Box not for the PC. The PC is always the leader in gaming technology. The X-Box was outdated the instant it hit the shelves, you dick. "Rather than growing with it, the trend seems to be devolving. More and more gamers seem to forget what this industry is all about." "This industry" is about making games that are fun and fucking work out of the box. The problems that Block-Ops is having would not exist if gaming developers did not have the X-Box's (Microsoft's) dick in their mouth. Awards

Rather than growing with it, the trend seems to be devolving. More and more gamers seem to forget what this industry is all about." The problem here is one we see across corporate America (as well as in government:) companies think they know better than their own customers, what's good for them. Time was when a company satisfied consumer demand. That's no longer true, and so long as consumers continue to support these companies by purchasing their products or services, they're not going to change. And I've yet to understand what the hell he meant with: "the social culture of video games is moving in a more negative direction." Gamers (COD anyway) are like the military: we're out to break things and kill people. We're not so interested in a "social" interaction like a time out for cookies and tea. If this guy reflect the "social culture" of his company - and he probably does - we see where the problems really lies. Awards
