Hi Larsin,

heres some info that might help you....
from toms hardware

"LED" refers to the LED backlight instead of traditional CCFL (florescent) backlight. A "LED" monitor is still a LCD monitor.

All consumer level LCD monitors with LED backlight are edge lit instead of having a full array backlight. Full backlight array means the light bulbs (CCFL) spans the entire back of the LCD panel. LED backlight originates from the edge of the screen. This means LED backlight can be less uniform than full array backlight, but even full array suffers from uniformity issues. That means certain parts of the screen can look darker than others.

LED backlight allows for lighter and thinner monitors. It also uses less electricity.

Some LCD monitors with LED backlight may have slightly bluish colors because blue LEDs with a yellowish phosphorous coating is used to imitate white.

Hey Larsin,

I know you want a 24" specifically, but I just seen this 27" on sale on NCIX for $299:

http://www.ncix.ca/products/index.php?sku=61093&manufacture=Samsung&promoid=1055

Samsung S27A350H 27IN Widescreen LCD Monitor LED Backlit 1920X1080 2MS 300CD/M2 DVI VGA

1080P, 2Ms refresh rate, Led backlit...it's got free ground shipping also...

Dunno about how it compares to others and didn't read reviews on that one...

I have a 24" Samsung SyncMaster 2493HM and advise you do not buy this manufacturer's products (I also own a Samsung 37" WS HD TV with which there is a significant irritating issue due to manufacture).

Pricing is good on that one!

ASUS three year warranty and their service center in Markham makes it a good choice too!

You buying?

the difference between a LCD and LED is the LCD uses a cathod where the LED used LEDs to light the LCD screen. Both LCD's.

in other words.. it dont mean shit. :)

Not sure if your still in the market. By I have a Samsung SyncMaster PX2370. It's a 23 LED monitor. LED will run cooler then a LCD.  Had it for about a year now and love it.
