I was just watching the news here in Dallas and am fuming with the crap I've seen. We had a few bad storms last week and I'm hearing how people demand federal aid. Yes it's a tragedy with the storms, but people are now saying they want the federal government to pay for the repairs to their homes. 1st off, this is why you should get insurance. 2nd the government isn't responsible for where you choose to live. 3rd, did you grand parents during the dust bowl, or "Dirty 30's" complain? Nope, they moved on and took care of business. So much crap in this world where people think they should get something for free. It's not the case. It's like a drivers license. You get young couples-in some cases not married, have a shed load of kids then demand the council not only give them a free house, but a BIG house to keep 'em all in (sometimes knocking 2 houses into 1) and ...oh by the way...we CAN'T go to work because we can't afford the child care, so they get paid to stay at home on benifits, and while on benifits everything else is FREE! Mississippi got hit worse and had more damage and yet they took less federal money and had it rebuilt quickly. In NOLA you would see houses rotting with tarps on and a brand new Escalade in the driveway. They used their money to buy this overpriced cars and didnt fix their houses. Then they complained that the government wasnt helping. It was so frustrating! Then the governmemt officials down there admitted to lining their pockets with federal money and were up for re-election and sure enough they were elected again! I felt like pulling my hair out. People are being conditioned to look to the government to help them rather than helping themselves. Not good at all! When we were getting Chevron's Pascagoula MS refinery back up to speed after Katrina, the FEMA folks were cruising around commandeering hotel rooms for their bloated staffs. They then tried to grab the refinery for "critical" fuel production. Chevron had been handing out fuel during the whole crisis to anyone that pulled up. The Federal authorities were less than kindly asked to get off Chevron property, and were not welcomed back. Gotta love free enterprise with some teeth......
