I have a venous stasis ulcer on my right leg. Today I had a follow up and the ulcer has been healing very well. The Dr then looked me in the eyes and said Dean there are a few things we need to talk about. I thought I have heard this before. Now I am very conscious and in tune with my body so I thought that she wasn't going to tell me anything I didn't already know. The next few words through me for a loop and really shook me deep within. I am not here to seek sympathy but to ask for prayers that I will remain strong and do what I must do and that God will provide the resources that things go and move in a very good and positive way. She told me it appears that my kidneys are failing and would be considered a stage 2 failure out of 5. Yeah I know that it's good it's only a stage 2 but any is not acceptable. Dialysis is an option I want to think about tho it is a very real possibility. She said from the evidence she has it was probably damaged from my unmanaged high blood pressure for so many years. The thing is I am not on Medicare yet and won't be until my birthday. This means money is a real serious issue in all this and I have 2 others depending on me through all this. At first I was numb and when it finally begin to hit me I felt some of the old depression symptoms coming on. I then decided that was not going to get to me again. I worked too hard to get back where I am again among the living and having fun. Then I realised I am not the first nor will I be the last to experience this. I know in the near future it will be a very very hard fight for me to stay positive. I need you as friends to just give me the support this clan always does and I never ever expected to have this kind of news. I am now so I must fight for the sake of my kids and my darling little precious Granddaughter. If I am in game and don't say much you will know why and I am okay but just don't want to talk. I feel like just when things were really turning around for me that my feet get yanked out from beneath me again. I love you all and don't want to burden you but PLEASE Pray for me especially mentally and emotionally! Thanks ahead for your love and support! BigPapaDean!!! Please don't despair, as nothing on this planet is for sure... i have seen miracles change things overnight. Not saying that is going to happen, but positive thinking believe it or not helps a lot. Our bodys and minds are in sinc. Try to stay positive and think of being whole. I myself am a walking miracle. When i went into the hosptial, they were thinking of taking my left arm!! I fould this out from my mom afterwards, (noone wanted to tell me i might lose my left arm while i was in hospital) but not only did I not lose my arm, but I now have 98% of functionality of my left hand and arm. And I am left handed so... I am telling this to you so you can see that nothing the doctors say is written in stone. XI was a big part of helping me keep my spirits up in hospital, so just keep on doin what you are doin, and don't get depressed. Think happy thoughts, (You granddaughter) and try to stay in a positive mood. Love ya Dean-O! You are a good person who has had many shitty things happen to you. You are loved and appreciated. You serve the Great Physician and I've seen Him do incredible things in people. You have already overcome so much and you are more than a conqueror. It's easy for us to let news such as this get us down but I sense a bit of stubbornness in you somewhere and I hope that you can channel that stubbornness into not giving up but overcoming this obstacle. It doesn't sound like the doctor has done a very good job counseling you and explaining what this means! Whilst I wouldn't say she doesn't know what she is talking about, the way this news has been delivered has induced fear into you that may not be appropriate to the circumstances. I know from personal experience how medics can scare the **** out of people - I was told by an optometrist that I showed signs of glaucoma and needed urgent attention or I could go blind. After a couple of anxious months, I was seen by an eye specialist who declared my eyes normal and free of any such signs! I also know, through personal experience, how people suffering anxiety and depression can catastrophise any problem. The worst case scenario is going to happen despite it being a remote possibility or highly improbable! So, stay calm, old fella - doing so will help the blood pressure issue! I appreciate the health care system where you are is not as accessible as it is in other countries so I'd suggest you do your own research via reputable organisations and forums. Coincidentally, an old friend of mine recently announced he was going for a health check as he'd been told he had kidney disease...18 years ago! You'll continue to be in my thoughts and prayers, my friend, but not in a way that asks the "Boss" not to recall you as that scenario seems a long way off. Be calm, be cool and be happy. I was caught up in the viewing life through the eyes of invincibility. Well that was run out of town quickly as I was brought back to reality. It's easy to get comfortable in the idea it won't happen to me because I am not going to let it. Well.....! Any way friends I really do appreciate your kind words of encouragement and support. I knew you wouldn't let me down. I was so touched and actually cried . I know I am just very emotional right now but it still made me smile/cry if you know what I mean. Hey @@DEEJAYKEG I read that page and also ear marked it in my favorites so I have easy access to it. If it wasn't for the monetary issue I would be just hokey pokey okay but that burns my chapped drawers as a redneck I know would say! Thanks again for all these words of comfort and support!
